Nextdoor is an app designed to connect you to your neighbors. Sign ups are restricted by area, and is currently only available in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and some parts of Europe. Posts are those that are relevant to your area; like recommendations for a local plumbers, information on the next local event, or a lost/found pet. Have you ever heard of Nextdoor? One Week On Nextdoor

As someone who dreams of one day living completely self-sufficient in a forest by myself, the whole concept of Nextdoor and the nosy neighbor just does not sit right with me. I don't need people posting about if my dog barked too loud at your dogs that you leave outside all day or about the kid up the hill that plays some kind of wind instrument for hours. My perception of Nextdoor before even trying it was that people with too much time on their hands would just make petty posts. I also thought that there would be a few crazy posts thrown in, considering my dad had told me about someone in their neighborhood complaining that someone put rat poison on their doorstep, which is wild to me.

After a week on the app, my views changed slightly for the better. Only because there were so many people taking in rescue cats and sending well wishes to neighbors' sick relatives. That was definitely a more wholesome side to the app that I didn't expect. My understanding of the more crazy side was proven correct in the three posts I included below. Take a read for yourself, but just prepare yourself for a home-watching nightmare, a pet opossum, and a duck murderer. You have been warned.
