NGC 602, the Flying Lizard Nebula, is a star cluster located near the Small Magellanic Cloud galaxy, about 200,000 light years away towards the constellation Tucana. The Small Magellanic Cloud is a dwarf galaxy, a satellite of the Milky Way.
NGC 602 is about 200 light years across and 5 million years old. It contains three star clusters, including NGC 602a. This cluster has been studied to see whether composition alters the properties of young stars. The stars of NGC 602a are poor in metals, and so should have lesser stellar winds. However, X-ray emissions from the area suggest that the young stars still produce X-rays like metal rich stars- so other properties may be similar as well.
