before i respond to the rest of questions , i have heard about aj’s other books and i really wanna read all of them . i actually ordered the spirit bares its teeth and compound fracture a couple of days ago , because i’m THAT in love with his writing and all of his books seem right up my alley tbh . i want to get his two newer ones soon , too .
now onto the big questions ! :
what kind of dynamics do i have with everyone in the alc ? : i’m planning on being the cool , mentor-ish yet slightly off-putting guy to them . i’m a little bit older than the rest of them , so i plan on being kind of their guide through life and caretaker/father-ish figure . there will be individual , more personal dynamics , of course . like , for example , cormac and i will have somewhat of a contradictory relationship . he both idolizes me for my transition decisions and for being the older transguy that he wishes to be , and yet somewhat dislikes me for being a feminine/androgynous-presenting man . it puzzles him , so it kind of shows up of him being scared of me and respecting me at the same time . i plan to make him face that lack of understanding/fear by dressing femininely more often around him . i mainly find it amusing . it’s a combo of rivals + parent/child dynamic . and then there’s nick and i , there will be this kind of instinctual understanding between us . nick and i will be somewhat closer than the others since we are both autistic , and he understands that i understand him in ways others have a harder time . this causes him to open up a little bit quicker or trust me to make decisions . more so best friend/trusted person dynamic and someone nick looks up to . benji and i’s relationship will kind of be the most significant since i plan to make him feel like my little brother . my actual little brother ( asher ) had died in this dr from a failed trial of seraph , and since then , i’ve dedicated my time to finding a cure or treatment for it . seeing benji in seraph form , still living and still himself , and then naturally who benji is as a boy/person , reminds me a lot of asher . i take him under my wing a lot . so , little brother/older brother dynamic . it’d be too long to go into the rest , but majority is just this weird combination of friendship and caretaker/child dynamics between me and the rest of them .
do i plan on being connected to the angels cult or the seraph in some way ? : yes . kind of answered some of this in the previous answer , too , lol . but my father took asher with him when he joined the angels , and both were killed by them for different reasons/in different ways . my mother had kept me in the bunker with her , she was not a supporter of the angels , but couldn’t stop my father from leaving and taking asher with him . so , i stayed behind for a while . eventually , asher was killed by the failed strain of seraph , my father was killed by the angels for different reasons , and my mother died of flood . after that , i eventually join the angels as a way to get information about the flood and seraph to figure out a cure/vaccine/treatment for it . that’s how i join the alc at the end , when they’re all fighting and killing off the angels , i come forward and tell them who i really am , what i was doing there , all that jazz . so , i have a deep history/connection to the angels in that way , and i honestly plan on undoing all of their work in causing the end of the world .
. . . or just generally have some kind of power connected to the flood ? : i know you meant this to be connected to the second question , BUT this is kind of a different story . i do plan on being effected by the flood somewhat . i have a lab in my bunker which is what i used to make the vaccine for the common strain of flood and what i use for figuring out a cure or treatment for seraph . while i was working one night , i had accidentally made a strain of flood that could only be treated when at its fullest development . i caught it , and so , i could only inject myself with the treatment for it after it had fully developed in my system and changed me physically into an abomination similar to seraph . in edition to it only being able to be treated then , it also comes back again after a few weeks/months . so , it takes full effect , i inject myself with the treatment , i return to my normal self , weeks/months go by , and then it starts developing in my system again over a few weeks , and then i have to inject myself again . it’s a cycle . of course , when it’s active in my system , i do have some communication/control over others with flood in their system , like graces/abominations . so , yes and no .
