Parallels in A Kind of Spark s1 v s2
I feel like I havent seen anyone talking about this on here so I thought I would do it! There will be spoilers ahead so stop reading if you haven't watched season 2 yet.
I loved the parallels between season 1 and season 2 of AKOS, it felt really thought through and I noticed several moments in partiuclar which I thought were really special. The main one I noticed was Emily finding the pages of ripped up books from the bookshop and following the trail to the wrecked bookshop, just like Addie did in seaon 1 when Emily ripped up her book. I felt that Emily had finally really understood what she'd done to Addie in season 1.
The next one I loved was Keedie at the party in both s1 and s2. In S1 she was masking a lot and trying really hard to seem neurotypical. Even though the music is too loud she pretends it's okay but then gets really overwhelmed and needs to go home. In S2, she visibly stims and then puts on some ear defenders and keeps partying! We love to see the growth.
And finally, I'm not sure if this is really a parallel but I saw some behind the scenes things about how costumes were chosen with a lot of care and in season one Keedie wears mostly blues and cooler colours and Nina wears greens and pinks. But in S2 they both seem to wear each other's colours which could show that they are back to being really close again, unlike in S1 where they have fallen out.
I love this show so much! And I love seeing the authentic autism representation and this show is just everything!
