One of the things I’ve always loved about the Sukeve and Nish storyline is the way that the show has carefully constructed the contrasts in Suki’s relationship with Eve and her relationship with Nish, be that through writing/directing/actor choices.

Nish consistently leaves Suki to do all of the household chores, as it is makes up part of her 'duties as a wife' to take care of the house; the closest he's ever got to doing something for Suki is occasionally preparing chai, but even that doesn't come without him exerting his control, such as the aftermath of Suki attempting to hand herself into the police to save Kheerat in April 2023.

In almost every household scene since Suki and Eve officially made their relationship public, Eve is right there alongside Suki, helping out with the cooking and cleaning. Suki is no longer trapped by Nish's patriarchal views of what a wife should be, finally with a loving wife who takes equal responsibility in the household tasks. A true partnership in every sense of the word.

Nish never viewing Suki as anything more than a possession whose autonomy must be stifled, versus Eve who sees all parts of Suki, the good and the bad, and loves the whole of her.

The composition of the framing: looking at Suki and Eve directly, because Suki and Eve are equals in their relationship; the sense of being slightly below Suki and Nish, a subtle reminder of the power imbalance that has always existed. Suki and Eve face-to-face, open to each other; Suki caught beneath Nish's arm with the camera being slightly further away, emphasising how small and vulnerable she is. Eve dressed in white, the connotations of purity and goodness; Nish in black, symbolising death and fear. The beautiful horizon opening up beyond them, a metaphor for the limitless possibilities to them; the oppressiveness of the dark night sky closing in.
