Hello, NNVAU posting! Wowie!!

This is a No Name SMP / Lifesteal AU that I've been developing for some months (alongside my brother) called No Name Vigilante AU. Not a lot of it is posted on Ao3 because I've not formally written a lot of the first arc but I thought posting to Tumblr might help me to work on it. That and my brother really wants a fandom to scream at...

The story follows our 3 main characters - Rekrap, Branzy and Skip - in POV. Other characters who appear are Failboat, Jaymoji and Sandiction (of course) as well as members of Lifesteal in the later arcs. Most prominently we have Parrot, Clown, and Yeah Jaron (3HT). The story is set within a modern reality where about 30% of the population is 'enhanced' or have powers/abilities. A majority of the main cast has powers because that's fun and I'm self indulgent.

Here's some basics on their powers:

Branzy - Fulgurkinesis - Able to feel the flow of electricity inside of things and either take it away to power himself or give more electricity to something (he can charge your phone). Weak powers if he isn't tapped into anything, invents all of his own weapons. Basically a human battery.

Failboat - Copy ability - If he can touch you, he can borrow your power. This does not take away the other person's power just duplicates it. He loses the power if he gets hurt. Like Kirby.

Jaymoji - Oobleck (shapeshifting in a way) - Solidifies under physical pressure and can turn into goo/ink to slip under doorways and the like. Splatoon 'I'm a kid, I'm a squid' style.

Sand - Illusions - Can make projections to change his appearance or the environment around him. Only visual, not auditory (can't make sounds) and cannot use the illusions to touch or harm people physically.

Skip - Powerless - L

Rekrap - Danger sense - Can feel physical danger before it hurts him. Isn't able to sense if someone has ill intent or anything like that, it is 100% physical.

We also have hybrids within the AU, Parrot being a bird hybrid, for instance. Hybrids are different to enhanced meaning Parrot is powerless. Both enhanced abilities and hybrid traits are hereditary.

There's also a Hero Association (HA) that hires people to work and protect the city but our No Name gang are just vigilantes at the start of the AU, hence the name.

Anyway, a first little one-shot can already be found on my Ao3 (fic link) if anyone is interested. I'm hoping to eventually post more to there but feel free to ask any questions. I've tried to be vague in this post to not spoil too much because it's a decently big AU but I needed to share this with more people.

Branzy leans forward, pointing at Skip's palm. "You just need to clench your fist and then both gloves get coated in a thin layer of alcohol, that's what- that's what the tank is for," He taps the little canister. "And then you snap your fingers and it acts like a matchstick, makes a little spark, you know?"

"And then fwoosh?" Skip finishes, Branzy nodding along.

"Exactly!" He leans back on his heels, beginning to fidget. "The alcohol gets set on fire and continues to burn until it runs out."

Skip hesitates, clenching his fists and feeling the little pipes running up and down the back of his fingers bend awkwardly. They don't give way, Skip instead watching how the divots on the outside of the gloves start to fill from his fingertips, pooling neatly at his wrist before he unclenches his hand and the flow stops. He spares one look at Branzy, the scientist's eyes locked onto his face as if waiting for his reaction, before he turns back to the gloves and snaps his fingers. He closes his eyes against the burst of heat, blinking them open to see one hand ignited in flame. His fingers don't burn, he notes, rotating his hand and watching how the fire easily dances between his fingers.

"Do you-" Branzy starts, cutting himself short before he tries again. "Do you like it?"

Skip claps his hands together and can't help but grin at the fire gets smothered a small moment before it finds new life, rising high above his hands, warming his face as he leans away slightly. He pulls his hands apart, the flames holding true as he waves them about, watching the little embers trail after him.

"This is so cool," He breathes, attempting to shake out one of his hands. The flame doesn't die, Skip watching how it shrinks before rising again as he stops. "How do I turn it off?"

"These are only the prototype," Branzy says in lieu of any sort of actual answer. "We can figure out all the kinks later if- if you want to keep them, I mean. You don't have to, I just thought-"

Skip's face turns deadpan. "I can't, can I?"

"It'll stop on its own," Branzy waves off. "It doesn't put that much alcohol on there."

"Branzy," Skip glares slightly. "Did you even test these?"

Branzy's face falls. "I did! I just-" He looks away, sighing. "I'll go get the fire blanket."

Rekrap groans as he stands from his chair, sparing one last look at the blueprints before he stretches, hands high above his head. Branzy turns to look at him, Rek smiling as he relaxes his posture again.

"It's getting kinda late, so I think I'm gonna go on a run," He explains, glancing around the room for where he kicked off his shoes. He finds them, slipping them on and leaning down to redo the laces. "You should probably go to bed. You've been working for ages."

Branzy makes a non-committal sound, Rek glancing up to see him tilting his head back and forth. Rek flattens his features, Branzy stilling slightly under his unimpressed gaze.

"Oh, alright," Branzy sighs, shoving his chair backwards. "I wasn't doing much  other than blueprinting anyway."

He stands and Rek can hear his joints protesting the movement, Rek wincing in sympathy. Rek swings his arms dramatically towards the door to usher Branzy out, Branzy snorting at the motion.

"I can't believe you're going to go out this late" Branzy starts, following Rek's instructions towards the exit. "It's, like," He checks his watch. "Oh, jeez. It's almost 2am."

Rek shrugs. "It'll be nice and quiet out."

"Yeah, and dangerous."

"Branzy, people don't exactly tend to sneak up on me," He rolls his eyes, slipping out the doorway first. "Just, you know. In case you forgot."

"I didn't forget!" Branzy protests. "I just-"

Branzy steps out into the hallway, Rek pausing to frown. "Branzy," Branzy stops mid sentence. "The light?"

"Oh, right, right," Branzy waves off, not stepping back into the room to flick the light switch and instead just placing his hand flush against the wall. "Here, wait, I've been practicing."

"Uh, I don't think that's such a good-" The room and the hall plunge into darkness and Rek sighs. "Idea."

He sighs, sticking a hand out as he starts to feel along the hallway. Branzy stays put, mumbling quiet curses as he is likely trying to fix whatever he broke within the wall itself, not that Rek really cares. This isn't the first time Branzy has broken one or, well, all the lights in their house. It's just a part of living with electrical powers and a man who's too insistent on using them.

Rek reaches the end of the hall and starts feeling for the light switch, finding it quick enough. He flicks it off to no effect before swiftly flicking it back up. The lights remain off, Rek frowning as he turns to blink at the blurry image of Branzy still stood by his garage door in the dark.

"It's busted," Rek calls, not bothering to raise his voice too loud. "Is that one..?"

"I got it, I got it," Branzy brushes off again, Rek watching the general shape of him lean into the garage. He can hear the light switch flick down and then up before down and up again in quick succession. Branzy leans back out, resting his forehead against the wall. "Shit."

"I'm sure it's fine, dude," Rek waves off, wandering back over to Branzy so he can rest a hand on his shoulder. "We can have a look at it in the morning. It's probably just these lights again, that's usually how it works."

Branzy sighs, nodding his head. "Yeah, you're right," He pulls to stand straighter, Rek's eyes flicking to his hair as static bounces between the strands at the movement. "I think we may need to fiddle with the surge protector, seeing as it's these 2 lights that keep going whenever I test anything with a lot of, uh- of a stronger output, I suppose."

Rek hums his agreement, even if he isn't sure that a surge protector would work as a Branzy protector.

Light suddenly filters in from where Rek has just been fiddling with the light at the far end of the hallway, Rek turning to see someone stood with their phone torch, Rek blinking harshly past the temporary blindness.

"TV stopped working," Dan began, lowering his phone so the light points more downwards, reflecting off the floorboards. "And, uh... the light in the living room. And the kitchen. And everywhere, I think."

Branzy thunks his head against the wall. "Oh, help me, Jesus."

"Thanks, Dan," Rek forces a smile. "Branzy and I will handle it tomorrow. I think we're just gonna go to bed for now though."

Dan gives a thumbs up. "All good. It wasn't you guys who blew the system again was it?"

Branzy's head lifts up before it thumps again, Rek wincing.

"Uh, no. Not this time," Rek lies. "Must just be getting old. It needed some upgrades anyway."

I added Clown to my NNVAU island and I pretty much immediately isolated him so he could haunt the narrative. I only introduced him to one person; Branzy. Now, you can imagine my shock and horror when Clown starts viewing Branzy as his BEST FRIEND FOREVER when they have only interacted ONCE. Now, imagine the fear I feel when Clown gets a PINK BUBBLE ABOVE HIS HEAD. I FORGOT I MADE BRANZY SWING ANY WHICH WAY AND I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT CLOWN'S INTO. GUYS, THEY CAN'T BE IN LOVE, IT ISN'T CANON, PLEASE

I may or may not have bought Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream with my little brother and we may or may not have started making NNVAU Island but I cannot confirm these alligations
