soulmates
noirxcorbeau:
Raven spent most her childhood with Charles only worrying about her self-acceptance. Would anyone love her? Especially when she was blue? When she wasn’t trying to cover up her mutation, the young mutant would spend her time trying to fit into society. It was the only thing she could do to feel normal — as if she and her brother weren’t the only ones who weren’t so different.
No one, not even she could imagine her surprise when she laid eyes on someone — a bit older than Charles it seemed and the glow came from her chest. The blonde’s eyes were as wide as they could be as she realized there was one coming from this strange man as well. Wasn’t he just trying to murder someone on that ship they were after? What was happening? Could have this all been a dream or a sick joke played on her by her brother.
Quickly she crossed her arms over her chest, hoping to block it out before it was too late. Clearly it had been when he spoke out to her. Taking a step back in fear, she wasn’t sure whether to tell him or not. Was there any harm in doing so? Clearing her throat, the young mutant looked away from him. “R—Raven. Who are you?”
Erik wasn't sure what to make of the girl—Raven, evidently. He certainly never expected to suddenly meet this woman now of all times, when he was supposed to be hunting down Shaw. He didn't have time for love or distractions, and the woman knew nothing of who he was or what he planned to do. She probably wasn't even anything like him, how on earth was it that they could be soul mates? Perhaps a large part of that was his own nervousness about the sitation, not that Erik would ever admit to beig made nervous about anything.
Frustratingly, the rest of the crew gave them space enough to talk, though he noticed the telepath from earlier seemed far less eager to do so. Once they were left in relative seclusion, he finally turned his gaze back to her. How long would this glow last? He had recalled seeing it in others when it first happened, but never after the fact. Perhaps it dimmed with time. He could only hope so. He felt mildly embarrassed by its presence as he pulled the blanket further around his soaked form. Now that he was out of the water, he was fucking cold.
"...Erik," he responded finally, looking up at Raven for only a few moments before looking away. What was he supposed to say to her? "I didn't— ...I never expected to...." He trailed off, jaw tightening in frustration.

send me a ☾ for my muse waking up to find yours in their bed in the middle of night
Erik shifted in his bed but tensed a bit when he felt someone next to him. He turned on the lights, his eyes slightly closed at the shining light. "Raven? What are you doing here?"
"♥"
Imagine when you find your soulmate, your heart starts to glow red. Send me “♥” for my muses reaction to it happening when our muses meet.
He didn’t believe in soulmates, and Erik felt as if he had little reason to do so. It wasn’t on his mind when Charles pulled him out of the water, and it certainly wasn’t on his mind when the agents swarmed him on the boat, trying to discern his identity and his reasons for being in the water. He didn’t care; he was angry. At Charles for saving his life, at the CIA for interfering—but nothing could have prepared him for the heat in his chest.
With the blankets wrapped around his body he didn’t notice the glowing in his chest at first. He shivered at the first wave of warmth, not from the cold, but from how uncomfortable he felt. A murmur of voices caught his attention and Erik looked up, somewhat startled. A group of people had formed around one of them—a girl, blond hair. He had barely noticed her in the excitement before, but now all eyes were on her and the warm pinkish glow in her chest. The sign of soulmates—Erik had heard the stories, but never seen it before for himself. The telepath from before looked to him next, brows furrowing. “Erik…”
”Wha—” he began, following the other man’s gaze down to his chest. Erik nearly jumped out of his skin at the light in his chest, a glow that matched the girl’s. His fingers clenched the drenched wetsuit, as if he could somehow make it go away with a touch. His attention turned up to the girl again as she approached him, and…
He had no idea what to say to her, not really. Erik had never expected to find his own soulmate—his mind had always been consumed with revenge, with finding Shaw and killing him. But this… did this change anything? He wasn’t sure. as she approached, he cleared his throat, self-consciously pulling the blanket further around himself. “…I don’t even know your name.”
