Sokka and his boomerang in Book 2, episodes 11 - 20.
Close Quarters Combat: Book 1, episodes 6 and 8.
First gif: Korra starts off with some nice firebending punches. Kuvira dodges. Second gif: Korra uses a classic firebending spin kick, and follows that up with a punch. Third gif: We got some more firebender style moves going on here, but the way the air moves about during that very first punch like a mix of airbender and firebender style to me given how the air moves about--it has a wide radius, and the way it moves about. Fourth gif: Now THAT’s firebender style. Also, Kuvira earthbends firebender style there with the leg movement. Wait, but also look at the way Korra falls, and jumps back up. Second time something Korra has done has reminded me of Zaheer. Interesting. But also, it makes sense given what’s about to happen. Fifth gif: Ok, I’m going to break down this gif this time to help me out because after that first waterbending style firebending punch, things get way too fast.
So, anyway, we start out with a waterbender style punch (check out that under hand. Also, Zuko kind of does something similar in Sozin’s Comet Part 1, and it’s what he’s doing in Book 3 when they go after P’Li too).
Then we actually have some kind of classic airbending here, which is a pleasent surprise. Check out that open palm movement Korra has going, and that fighting stance:
Then we got that classic firebending:
And that more firebender-style air punch:
You guys see whaat I mean by air distrubution being different for airbender and firebender style moves?
With actual airbending style, the air has a greater radius, and it’s allowed to flow, whereas a firebender style approach leads to the air having a smaller radius with the bender exerting more control over the element
