So, little story time:
I started watching the boys this week and my mother has also tried watching the series (I'm hooked and almost done with season 1)
Anyway, I tell her I'm enjoying watching this show, right? It's so good! I'm raving about the nature of the show, a little gory, a little scary, really thought provoking, everyone is a loveable bastard etc.
And she just looks at me sheepishly and says, "I didn't make it past the first episode 🤷 I think I made it to when the old man showed up- and I remember the little skinny guy"
Me: "That wasn't even... What do you mean old man? In the first ep? There's like no 'old people' in the shows main cast right now."
My mom: "Yeah, the skinny guy-"
Me: "Hughie- I'm pretty sure he's like the main character. He's young"
My mom: "Oh? Really?" - (She was legit surprised about this, I don't know how she missed the focus on Hughie) - "but he goes to the old man for help!"
Me: "what old man!?!"
Me: *starts thinking of any characters that have graying hair... Or "old" vibes like a parent*
Me: "do mean hughies dad? He's not like an old-old man but he's his dad trying to help him"
*pulls up pictures of the cast and points out Simon Pegg*
My mom: "no... It's not him... Maybe I'm thinking of another show..."
Me: "ok well I don't know who else was in EP 1 that would be an old man... Maybe you are thinking of another show"
*she's looking at the other cast members and snaps her fingers*
My mom: "OH! THATS HIM!

I mean I was gasping and making incomprehensible sounds at the audacity of my mother calling KARL URBAN AN OLD FUCKING MAN
Better yet, she was like "oh yes, he's got a beard and he's Eomer in LOTR and skurge in Thor. Guess I could have told you that to figure out who it was"
