Tides and Thrones — The Morning After
The royal dining hall fell silent as Queen Bridget walked in barefoot, baby Heather on her hip, braid dripping seawater. King Zale followed, already regretting letting any of his children marry.
Bridget: “Good morning, darlings. Hope you enjoyed your first night of marriage. You’ve got one month. Then we break you all up.” Wisteria choked. Selene grinned. Eryx died inside. Bridget and Zale laid it out: 🔹 Selene & Eryx → off to the Magical Academy 🔹 Morrigan & Ione → assigned to the Magical Hospital 🔹 Wisteria → staying behind as acting royal Selene: “You’re sending me to nerd prison?” Zale: “It’s school.” Selene: “Same thing.” Morrigan: “Midwifery?” Bridget: “Because you care, even when you pretend not to.” Ione: “Wait, like… with actual patients?” Wisteria said nothing. But her hand drifted to her stomach. Bridget: “One month. Don’t waste it.” Zale: “Brush your hair.” Selene: “We’re burning the academy down. Emotionally.” Phase two has begun.
