Beware the Fox | Normand & Dmitrei
The Capital had been swimming with lords and ladies from all over Aragoth who had come to see the Queen’s cousin take Jon Valles to be her husband. Lynessa Beaumont was beloved by all who knew her and even by those who had only heard of her beauty and kindness. How little they all knew, Dmitrei thought, Beautiful she may be, but her heart is as black as the Queen’s.
Dmitrei walked through the crowds. The wine was flowing like water (this was Avelina’s daughter’s wedding, after all) but not everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. But that, was all according to his plan.
Like Avelina and her girls, Dmitrei was determined to remain in the public eye at all times and he made the rounds, stopping to speak with everyone as he went. He had not spoken with the Viponts since they arrived (although he had heard enough about them from Avelina).
“Ah, my Lord Vipont! Welcome to the Capital. It has been many years since I have been to the west. Tell me, how do things fare in that part of the country?” Dmitrei only asked out of courtesy, but truth be told, he was certain he knew more than Normand Vipont would disclose to him. He suspected that Normand Vipont’s showing up in the east had less to do with his sister-in-law’s niece getting married and more to do with the embarrassment with his own wife to be.
It wasn’t everyday a young girl left the promise of a good home and a husband to become a tavern wench in the frozen north.
