SPOILERS BELOW FOR AGE OF CALAMITY
I’ve been playing, and I just NEEDED to write this because I can only imagine how happy Sidon was to see Mipha after having to live his whole life without her. That kind of loss hurts and most people don’t get to see their loved ones again like that, lucky lucky Sidon. Anyway, here’s a pinch of dialogue and things that I imagined their reunion would’ve gone.
——-
With the last shred of Waterblight Ganon’s health torn from it, Link and the royal Zora siblings knew that fight was finally over. The hero sheathed his sword, a wave of relief washing over him. Mipha felt the same, her life been spared another day, and with the help of none other than...
Clang
The rattling noise of tridents crashing to the ground. Before Mipha could piece the sound together, strong arms wrapped around her in a desperate embrace.
“I won’t lose you again, dear sister,” shook the towering Sidon, whose yellow slits bore crystal tears, “I can’t do it again. I...I don’t have the strength.”
There was a significant hole in poor Sidon’s heart with the loss of his beloved sister all those years ago. Though he was but a pup back then, his recollection of Mipha were some of his fondest memories. She was a light in his life: someone he looked up to, wanted to be. Graceful, noble, and a warrior to the end. It was no wonder he followed her around as he did in his youth. So when the news of her untimely passing came about, it was as though the waters of his home took on a murk he couldn’t wholly clear.
“I’ve missed you so much, Mipha” sniffed the prince, “Nothing was the same in your absence.”
This brought tears to Mipha’s eyes now. Her poor baby brother left alone without her for all that time. Her heart broke at the thought of him having to carry the burden of sorrow and royalty. Her hand reached to wipe away a few tears from her brother’s face. “How you made it here matters not, my brother, but I have nothing but joy to see you.”
The winning smile of the prince shown now, even through his tears. Mipha continued, her voice wavering, “You’ve grown tremendously, Sidon - and though time has kept us apart, you’re here now...And I am, as I have always been, proud of you.”
Sidon sobbed at her words, years of loss finally breaking down and happiness slowly seeping in. Mipha gently stroked the back of his headfin for comfort, a soothing maneuver she did when he was little. He hugged his sister once more, truly letting it sink in that she was there, she was alive.
And this time he would make sure he could help keep her that way.
