Coronavirus has forced me to come to terms with the fact that I really don’t like cooking. I have the time and I have the resources but I’d still rather have an apple and some nuts for dinner than put anything in a frying pan. Sure, vegetables taste better cooked, but you can eat them raw so why bother with the extra steps?
I’m ashamed to admit this because it’s cool and interesting to enjoy cooking. Plus, if you admit you don’t enjoy it, people make assumptions. Like, that you’re lazy, that you don’t know HOW to cook, that you eat out a lot, or that your diet is full of processed foods. In my case none of these things is true, but even if they were true... so what? It’s my diet. Who cares? But not liking cooking is like not liking dogs: it reflects poorly on your character because we have so many ideas about what people are supposed to enjoy. Whatever. I’m learning to embrace my Corona anti-cook.
