While waiting for the judges to taste the food we’ve prepared, we asked our classmate to braid our hair. After she finished braiding our hair, the judges hadn’t still arrived in our table to taste the food. It was a long wait and we were all starving that time.
So right after the judges tasted the food, we rushed on our table to take a picture before we could ever finish all of them.
The joy in singing
Around 9:30 in the morning, we had our first friday mass in San Bartolome Parish. Since I am a glee club member and have practiced yesterday, I sang in the choir. Our moderator shuffled our positions today that resulted to having people beside us that aren't belonging to our own voice classifications. It was hard being scrambled and being alone knowing that every Soprano, Alto, Base, and Tenor have their own voicings in almost every song. Still, thank God I wasn't out of tuned. I was placed literally infront of the microphone that made me nervous at first but luckily we made it. The shuffling of voice classifications was amazing though, it is a form of knowing and standing firm for your tune despite hearing other tunes that doesn't have the corresponding sound as yours.
After the mass we had our entrepreneur subject where in I sang my composed song for the class that will be used for the Nutrition Month Interpretative Dance. I was nervous at first because maybe my classmates still prefers the song that I have written for last year than for this year. After singing, I didn't feel that they disliked the song. In fact, they were singing it. I am glad and flattered that my song is being enjoyed by other people.
More songs to come!
🥗 Nutrition in Indian Homes: It’s More Than Food. It’s Who Feels Responsible. 🥗 In most Indian households, nutrition doesn’t start with a meal. It starts with a woman’s unspoken checklist: 🧠 Did I soak the almonds? 🍎 Did I pack fruits for everyone? 💧 Did I remind them to drink water? 🥬 Do we have enough vegetables for tomorrow? This invisible load — the mental labor of care — has quietly been passed down from mothers to daughters for generations. Yes, things are changing. More men are stepping into the kitchen, asking about nutrition, packing their own tiffins. But let’s be honest — this is still exception, not expectation.
🍛 Here’s what real change looks like: ✅ A husband who doesn’t wait to be reminded to refill the water bottles ✅ A son who learns to cook dal-tadka before he learns to drive ✅ A father who packs his child’s school tiffin without “babysitting” ✅ A brother who chops veggies without being asked These aren’t big acts — they’re everyday moments of shared responsibility. They’re not about “helping her” — they’re about being part of the family health system.
📣 This Nutrition Month, I’m asking you to reflect: ➡️ In your home, who carries the mental load of nutrition? ➡️ What’s one small action you can take to share that load — consistently, not occasionally? ➡️ And if you’re already doing it — talk about it. Not to boast, but to normalize it.
💬 Let’s stop saying “men should help more.”Let’s start saying “nutrition is a shared responsibility.” Because a truly healthy home is one where everyone shares the care — not just the food. —Rashmi N Bhanushali Consultant Medical Nutritionist | Founder, Food Fitness LLP

Let’s talk about the invisible nutrition gap — in care, not calories. In many Indian households, when a man is diagnosed with a lifestyle condition — diabetes, high BP, cholesterol — the entire meal plan changes. 👩🍳 Wives start cooking with less oil🥬 Mothers switch to millets and fiber🍲 Daughters research low-sodium recipes💊 The whole home adapts to his needs And we applaud this. Because it’s love. It’s care. It’s what families do. But now flip the scenario. ➡️ When she has PCOS…➡️ When she is told to eat iron-rich foods…➡️ When she is pregnant, breastfeeding, menopausal, or even just exhausted… Does the kitchen change for her?Does someone else take charge of her dietary needs?Does she get specially cooked meals — or just advice? Too often, she hears:
“You manage, na?”
“Eat whatever’s there.”
“Make something for yourself if you need.” 💔 That’s the silent inequality we never question: Nutrition becomes her job — even when she needs it the most.
🟠 This Nutrition Month, let’s ask the real questions: 👨👩👧👦 Is nutrition a shared responsibility in your home — or a gendered one? 💬 When was the last time someone planned a meal for her? 📣 And if you’re a man reading this — here’s your challenge: Can you take charge of one person’s nutrition this week — not as help, but as responsibility?
Because love is not just cooking for someone when they’re sick. It’s caring enough to notice when they’re not okay — and acting on it. Let’s build families where women’s health is not invisible, and care flows both ways. —Rashmi 𝓑𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓾𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓵𝓲Consultant Medical Nutritionist | Founder, Food Fitness LLP
