Okay, how bout this. Merlin's magic are flowers, like imagine how different the show would be if Merlin's magic was all flowery and pretty.

Merlin walks, and it's a trail of flowers blooming after him. He smells like different flowers depending on his mood.

Everyone in Camelot calls him flower boy, like they just accept the fact he pulls out a basket of flowers literally out of nowhere and just sigh fondly like, "That's Merlin for ya, our flower mascot"

And Arthur, without realising it slowly falls in love with Merlin, but of course both of them are oblivious, lovable, idiots that they won't recognise it. Yet.

Cue in the jealous!Arthur and pouty!Merlin, temporary unrequited feelings, heartbreak, and eventual happy endings(happy ending = smut lmaoooooo)

Arthur: I'm starting to get really worried about Merlin.

Morgana: huh, why?

Arthur: oh yeah. You don't know this, but Merlin sleepwalks. Then he comes into my room and lays on the Sofa and just Starts rambling nonsense.

It's kinda like a therapy session, in a way. Just that he's constantly telling me how He "saved my royal ass" and stuff. Also I can never wake him up. It's very entertaining, actually.

Morgana: so.... Is he telling you worrysome things?

Arthur: yeah. But that's normal. It's all very fantastic where he has magic and shit and is too scared to tell me. And then he retells all our adventures, but they are completely messed up. Merlin is very narcisstic. He thinks he keeps saving the day every damn time. But i mean, it's all nonsense. He told me, YOU were out to kill me and his actual name was Emrys. Dream logic, amiright? Haha

Morgana:.... *Is cleaning her nails with a knife. Stops to stare at Arthur* yeah, right....

Arthur: anyway, lately he Just screams.

Ok I know we’ve all talked about how oblivious Arthur was to Merlin’s magic but can we talk about how oblivious he was to Merlin’s opinion on magic?

Like according to my guy Merlin’s legit childhood best friend was a sorceror and Arthur’s still like- “Merlin must think magic is evil. Merlin d’you think magic is evil? Of course you do, who am I kidding. But what if it’s not evil, what if we were wrong? Nvm what do you know about magic. It’s not like your childhood best friend, Will, had some. You just stand there looking pretty and being an idiot. Leave the thinking to the big boys.”

I personally ship Merthur as friends, but Arthur really gives off those “dumb gay oblivious to not subtle gay flirting” vibes, huh?

That, in a romantic context, that would be Merthur in a nutshell. Merlin; gay dork unable to learn the art of subtlety, and Arthur; gay idiot totally oblivious to the gay dork’s constant not- so- subtle flirting.
