He awakes with a start, suddenly alert to the change of surroundings - unfamiliar sounds, unfamiliar smells, unfamiliar bed... Oh no. That's never good. With a groan, he runs a hand through is hair and over his face, only to discover it to be covered in dirt. Oh shit.

What surprises him the most, though, is the woman. He shouldn't be so surprised to see someone else in the house that was most certainly not his, but she's staring at him in a way that he's definitely not awake enough for. As though he's a puzzle in need of solving. All he wants to do is turn over and go back to sleep. This must be a nightmare.

But instead he finds it within himself to sit up, pulling the blankets on the bed around himself to appear a smidge more presentable. "Uh, good morning. I should probably start by thanking you for your hospitality. I'll admit I haven't woken up in a stranger's bed in quite some time."

When I tell [Boggs] what I want to do, he writes me a pass so I can go out to the woods during Reflection, provided I stay within sight of the guards. I run to my compartment, thinking to use the parachute, but it's so full of ugly memories. Instead, I go across the hall and take one of the white cotton bandages I brought from 12. Square. Sturdy. Just the thing. In the woods, I find a pine tree and strip handfuls of fragrant needles from the boughs. After making a neat pile in the middle of the bandage, I gather up the sides and give them a twist, and tie them up tightly with a length of vine, making an apple sized bundle. At the hospital room door, I watch Johanna for a moment, realize that most of her ferocity is in her abrasive attitude. Stripped of that, as she is now, there's only a slight young woman, her wide-set eyes fighting to stay awake against the power of the drugs. Terrified of what sleep will bring. I cross to her and hold out the bundle. "What's that?" she says hoarsely. Damp edges of her hair form little spikes over her forehead. "I made it for you. Something to put in your drawer." I place it in her hands. "Smell it." She lifts the bundle to her nose and takes a tentative sniff. "Smells like home." Tears flood her eyes. "That's what I was hoping. You being from Seven and all," I say. "Remember when we met? You were a tree. Well, briefly."

HER EXISTENCE is causing unrest in fjerda . one extremely powerful grisha had fjerdans wary , but two is making them difficult to control . jarl brum , especially , has been working himself up into a fervor and nikolai has begun to have chronic headaches . he's already visiting , with the intention of terse peace talks with king alexander and the general of the second army . it's going about as well as anticipated . . . and he's noticed he is being kept away from her , the SUN SUMMONER . not that he's been particularly trying to seek her out . despite suspicions otherwise , nikolai truly isn't here for anything untoward. but then he feels it , the feeling of being watched . he turns , and notices a quick dodge around a corner and his brows raise .

Smash RPG Idea

As is obvious from my whole “Magic: the Smashing” cards, I’m a big fan of Super Smash Bros. When I was around eleven or twelve, I got my best friend a copy of the first game for his N64 (the only console we had at my house until I got my PS2 was a SNES). He has proceeded to stomp all comers at every Smash game ever since.

But that’s not what this post is about. It’s about an idea I had a year or so ago for an RPG Maker Smash Bros. Fangame. Which I don’t really have a name for.

The game begins with a black screen wherein you name your character and make them with the Mii Maker menu, then choose if you’re playing as a Gunner, Swordfighter, or Brawler. After that, you find yourself in what I called “The Grey Area,” which is full of enemies so weak, you basically have to be trying to lose in order to do so.

In this section are the original seven Smashers (Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, and Pikachu) who help you learn how to recruit characters and form your starting party in the process. Some you have to recruit through combat, some you negotiate with, others will just straight-up join when you talk with them. NPCs will open shops and the like, while Smashers will join your party.

The way characters talk make it sound like Master and Crazy Hand are keeping everyone in The Grey Area trapped, but, upon defeating them, you learn that they were actually keeping the enemies of the next zone at bay. The next zone being Subspace Emissary, where everyone added in Melee and Brawl can be found.

After beating Tabuu, you enter The World of Conflict, which is split evenly between Galeem and Darkhon, and the characters in Sm4sh and Ultimate are found there.

Once those two are defeated, there’s only one zone left: The Abyss. An area completely empty of everything but the final encounter: Obscuras, the Concept of Being Forgotten. Which you defeat, because everyone in Smash is memorable.

I have an outline for the game’s mechanics, also, such as the six stats and what they govern, and Smash Balls being a rare item that maxes out a character’s level for the duration of a single battle. Mii Fighter Costumes give your character stat boosts, and if you have a complete set on, you get a special attack. For example, having both the Sans head and body pieces on will give you the “Gaster Blaster” attack, which does heavy damage to all enemies and inflicts maximum poison on them.

Just another game idea that I’m unlikely to make myself, but if anyone wants to adopt it, at least give me some intellectual credit.

"a soldier doesn't like war." it's never been about that for him; it's always been about protecting his people. he didn't do anything for self-interest; protecting his sister came before anything else. he's made decisions that he has to live with, choices that he regrets but can't change, in the name of protecting his people. he would do anything for those that he loves, but he doesn't understand attacking before being attacked anymore. there are other ways to protect those that he cares about. "you don't have to do this."
