The cons of having a twin: they know all your tells, they know all your secrets, and worst of all they literally have your face so you can’t even call them ugly without it being a self-burn.

The pros:

“What did you do?” Brocc asked, eyes already narrowed at her suspiciously.

Breena lowered her cup of mead on to the bar. She had a few options here. Come clean right away. Lame, boring. Lie and pin it all on Sydney. Funny, but dangerous. Lie and pit it all on Yuria. More plausible, still dangerous. The girl can turn into a bear for crying out loud.

Or she could just fuck with him.

“Why, whatever do you mean, brother?” she replied, batting her eyelashes.

Brocc snatched her mostly empty cup away from her before she could take another drink. The monastery forced him to shave his head (though why he continued after leaving was beyond Breena) so it was all eyebrows and his shiny forehead that leaned in closer.

“What. Did. You. Do.” he repeated.

She shrugged. “Oh, let’s see. I woke-up, I fought a talking mushroom, I brewed a slow-acting poison. Oh, by the way, remind me in 5 hours to check in on Jarzz.”

“BREENA.” The other patrons paused in their own conversations a moment to stare at the arguing gnomes before continuing on. Their bartender, a weary battle-scarred duergar, merely blinked. “I know you did something. You might as well just clean now before I have to Kamehameha your ass--”

“Oh, really? Is that really what the monastery called it?”

“That’s not the point, Breena!”

“Ooh, I’m so scared. Just wait until I finish building my latest construc--”

“Getting a robot to fight your battles for you, oh real mature--”

Breena slapped her hands down on the bar. The duergar switched out the empty cup in front of Brocc for a full one. This argument had been fun and all, but it was only just getting started.

“Alright then. Guess you’ll just never know what I stole from you.” She sighed before taking back her mead and drinking some. From the corner of her eye, she could see Brocc practically fuming.

He began patting the pockets in his monk robes, muttering a list of his meager belongings to himself. Oh, this was just too easy.

Finally, after a minute or so of searching, Brocc scoffed. “You’re bluffing. I’m not missing anything. Besides, you wouldn’t bother stealing my stuff.”

“Why, ‘cause you’re my twin?” Now it was Breena’s turn to scoff.

“No, because my stuff’s not worth anything.”

That much was true. That was where they differed most of all. Breena was motivated by self-gain, while Brocc was motivated by...comfortable robes.

She finished off her mead, tossed a few copper pieces on the bar, and hopped down to begin her exit. As nonchalant as she could manage, she said, “Eh, guess you’re right. The merchants didn’t seem very interested in your backwards books anyways.”

My dnd oc wix doesn’t really have a moral code outside of what she knows the people she loves would think was right or wrong, so she tries to do good based on that rather than feeling it herself

Oh, that’s so interesting! Curious to see how that plays out when she’s forced to make a decision by herself without them around.

I have a gnome alchemist named Breena who has a twin named Brocc. He’s a monk and so tries to (somewhat) follow a moral code. So Breena, despite being a criminal, does as well for the sake of her twin. However, we did discuss what would happen if Breena ever lost him and hoo boy, it’s not pretty. I think that last tether to morality would be severed and she’d probably slide into evil territory.
