Aka the team with the most varied relationships on board. Gary and Cereza are long-term work partners, pair bonded in the Enithian standard, while Cereza and Clatter firmly dislike each other. I’d describe it as hate, but the hate is a little one-sided. And then Clatter and Gary are mostly neutral, though Gary does pity Clatter a little.
They mostly work together fine? They’re all good at their jobs, certainly, but Clatter being in specifically engine maintenance means they don’t always work together.
Individual character descriptions under the cut :)
Clatter is the engine repair specialist, and general maintenance expert.
Clatter was born on Enith, and scored well enough in her early developmental tests to be picked up by the High Galactic Engineering Commission. As she grew up she displayed an affinity for spaceplanes, often spending her free time at the museum on campus. When she graduated, she was sorted into engine and general repair.
For years, the better part of a decade, she worked on some of the most important vessels in the Enithian galaxy. Deep-space spaceplanes, inter-system military ships, Clatter was even on the team trying to recreate Tias needle-jump engines. Though, most of her recent work lies in maintaining trollies before they’re shipped out again.
Nonetheless, the Little Bird has an unusual engine, and Clatter is easily one of the most qualified people to work on it.
An experienced engineer and mechanic, Gary is a member of the Little Bird’s small mechanical team.
An E-255 model Atistke built by the Firsthand Unified and Pan-Galactic Maintenance Guild, Gary was originally commissioned to work on a space station. The station commissioned new, cheaper workers only a few years down the line. Gary was transferred to a new division, and went on to do temporary work for a variety of ships, stations, and ferries.
Eventually, he met Cereza. The two of them hit it off, luckily, while they were working and sleeping in close quarters. They became close friends over the course of years, and the Guild eventually sponsored a pair bond, so they could work together permanently.
Being a very strange ship, the Little Bird requires mechanics with experience in a wide variety of spacecraft- something that Gary is, perhaps, the best option for. He’s certainly very experienced for an E-255.
Cereza is the third and final member of the Maintenance crew.
Born on the colony world of Horizon, Cereza grew up learning and working on terrestrial mechanics. But Horizon was a quickly changing world, and Cereza happened to change in a different direction. Feeling stifled, they left for space. They managed to get into a remedial program with the Firsthand Unified and Pan-Galactic Maintenance Guild.
Afterwards, Cereza worked mostly on ferries and stations. They met Gary a few years into their career, and the two worked together for several years. They grew very close, and managed to get a recognized pair bond.
Cereza may not be the most experienced person onboard the Little Bird, but they certainly are very experienced. And, if they could say, they are pair-bonded to the mechanic with the actual most experience.
