You paced the length of the Hawk’s arena hallway, trying your best not to let your impatience show. The muffled sound of celebratory music thumping from the main arena doors down the hallway doing nothing but making you even more antsy.
Under your impatience, you were furious. You had been furious since last night, when you and Logan argued over something so miniscule that you couldn’t even remember what it was about. While you don’t remember the cause of it, you do remember that you’re furious about it.
It didn’t help that the two of you hadn’t spoken to one another from since he had said, “I love you, but I’m not doing this right now.” and walked out of your dorm, slamming the door on his way out. Okay, he hadn’t actually slammed the door but, to you, he basically did. And that made you furious.
Despite your stubborn vow to ignore him until he came crawling back to you, you still found yourself sitting in the stands with Hannah and Allie to watch the game. You had, childishly, planned to look unbothered and uninterested in the game. You had even practised your yawn. But, from the moment that Logan took to the ice to the time he got off it, you were on the edge of your seat.
He played like a man possessed. Obviously, he was just as furious as you were and he had channelled all of that into the game. He was checking the Harvard guys into the plexiglass with such a force that you swear you saw it wobble. He threw his head back and roared when he scored, it took all of your dignity to not start moaning right there and then.
Every time he skated past your section, chest heaving under the padding, you became a little less angry with him. And, somehow, a whole lot more furious with him.
And this wait was making it worse.
The double doors of the locker room finally clicked open; the team flooding out in chaotic chatter. You watched as the partners gravitated towards their boyfriends. That should be you and Logan, but it’s not because you’re ‘fighting’. You stayed with your back against the wall, waiting for the hallway to clear. You knew that Logan wouldn’t be coming out with them.
Once the hallway cleared and the voices faded, you pushed open the door and stepped into the way-too-brightly lit locker room.
Logan was sitting in his stall, his forearms resting heavily on his knees as he stared blankly at the Hawks logo on the carpeted floor. His thick, dark curls fell over his eyes, soaked with sweat. He was still in his uniform, only his skates and helmet were off, discarded somewhere on the floor.
Even from across the room, you could feel the pent-up aggression vibrating off of him in waves.
When the door clicked shut behind you, his head snapped up. You leant back against the it, refusing to come in any further. You’d already taken the first step towards him. Now he had to come to you. His eyes narrowed on you, dark and intense.
“You’re still here,” he rasped. It wasn’t a question, but you answered it anyway.
“Yes,” you said, crossing your arms tightly over your chest. And, because you were being petty, added, “and, I’m still mad at you.”
Logan snorted, running a tense hand through his damp hair. He slowly stood up and walked over to you, stopping inches away from you.
Without his skates, he didn’t tower over like he would have done on the ice, but he was tall enough and wide enough to make you feel surrounded as you stood up straighter against the door.
His jaw clenched as he looked down at you and you felt a sudden heat pooling between your legs.
“I’m still mad at you,” he fired back.
“Mhm,” you murmured.
Your eyes greedily looked over him. The way his brow was furrowed. The sharpness of his jawline. The way he watched you looking all dark and serious. He looked rugged, undone, and it was so attractive to you that it made your heart ache and pussy clench.
His jaw clenched under your scrutiny, his gaze dropping to your lips as his breathing became shallower, more uneven.
“Have you come to pick another fight?” Logan asked.
“Maybe,” you countered, your voice steady despite your racing pulse. “Why? Do you want me to?”
“No.”
“Well, then I’m not here for that.”
“Then why are you here?”
He knew why you were here, the asshole. He could see your eyes travelling his body. He could see you watching the sweat roll down his neck. There’s no way he didn’t notice your chest rising or the way your eyes had dilated. He just wanted to hear you say it.
He leant forward slightly, hands slamming against the wall on either side of your head, trapping you there.
God, the smell of him. From this close, it was overwhelming. The smell of his sweat shouldn’t have pulled you in the way it did. But there was something so him and so masculine about the way he smelt.
That’s how you knew you were down bad.
You looked up at him, your stubbornness and pride pushed aside by the unadulterated need. “Are you going to kiss me or what?”
He didn’t answer and worse, he didn’t kiss you. Instead, the motherfucker smirked at you. He slipped his hands under your thighs, grabbing a hold of your ass and effortlessly lifted you up. He pressed you back against the door and you instinctively wrapped your legs around him.
The padding under his jersey prevented you from being chest to chest, forcing him to lean forward and tilt his face towards yours.
He hovered there, his lips a fraction away from yours, so close that you could feel the rapid puff of his warm breath on you, but he still wouldn’t kiss you. He stared down at your lips, then looked back up at you. You looked into his eyes, seeing the intensity of last night’s anger, tonight’s victory, and his raw desire for you. It was one of the things you loved most about him, he couldn’t hide anything in his eyes.
You felt a vein in your neck throb. You tilted your chin up, expecting him to crash his lips against yours now that you’ve made the first move. But Logan deliberately pulled his head back just an inch further. Teasing you. Letting you ache for it.
“Asshole,” you muttered, your fingers digging tightly into the damp fabric of his padded shoulders.
“Say that again.”
Instead of answering, you tried to pull his head down, but he held his ground. Keeping his eyes locked on yours, he shifted his weight, deliberately grinding his hips forward to press the hardness in his pants right against you.
“Ass. Hole.” You punctuate each syllable, if that’s what he wanted, you would give it to him.
His eyes flared as heat ran through his body. He ground into you again, making your breath hitch.
Lifting you higher in his arms, he pressed himself against you. His dick was twitching in his pants, and he so desperately needed relief.
“What am I going to do with you?” He let out an exasperated laugh as he tilted his head and leant into you.
The first touch of his lips was just a soft brush, but it still sent a ripple down your spine. You hadn’t expected him to be so delicate after the way he’d been looking at you and teasing you. He lingered there, brushing his lips across yours.
He brushed his lips against yours once more, before capturing your lower lip between his teeth, biting and tugging slightly.
You moaned.
The second the sound left your throat; Logan released your lip and kissed you for real. It was bruising and desperate and exactly what you needed to get out the frustrations of the last 24 hours. His hands were suddenly all over you in a frantic blue, sliding up the hem of your shirt, cupping your ass to lift you higher, caressing your face to tilt your mouth deeper into his.
Clinging to his neck, you were only faintly aware that he had begun moving. He kept his lips on yours, carrying you across the room as he stumbled to his locker.
He didn’t break the kiss until he was in front of his locker. As his hands slid from your ass, to your waist, he pulled back, eyes locking onto yours as his chest heaved.
“Pants off,” he said, voice gruff.
The moment you unwrapped your legs from him and stood up, he was there to help you with your jeans. His fingers were trembling as he frantically tried to undo the button.
Once your jeans slid down, you sat back on the black cushion of his locker bench, looking up at him with your heart hammering in your chest.
Logan dropped to his knees, settling right between your legs. His hands gripped your knees, spreading your legs open to look at the wet patch on your panties.
He stayed there for a beat, thinking about exactly how he wanted to devour you first. He settled on your thighs first.
His hands stayed gripped on your knees as he leant forward, pressing kisses and sucking on the sensitive skin along your inner thigh, travelling up. He got unbearably close to where you were waiting for him, already soaked, before trailing back down again.
You let out a frustrated whimper, your fingers clawing at his scalp.
On his third journey up, a heavy hand came to your stomach as he gently guided you to lean back against the wooden cubby. At the same time, his other hand slid around your lower back.
With an effortless tug, he pulled you forward until your ass was right at the edge of the bench. You rested one leg over his shoulder, completely opening you up to him.
It had only been a day and a half since he last had his face buried between your legs, but to him, it might as well have been an eternity.
“Fuck, baby, I missed this,” he said as he buried his face between your legs, inhaling you in.
With one hand, he slid your panties to the side and parted one of your folds so he could lick a fat stripe up your pussy. He did it again, and again, and again, lapping up the juices there before moving to focus on your clit.
Your hips bucked into his mouth as he flicked his tongue against you. He had no more intentions to tease you; he wanted you to cum on his face.
He used his nose to rub against your clit and you shamelessly rolled your hips over it. The friction feeling so good.
A whine caught in your throat as he dove back in with his tongue, flicking from left to right.
“Logan~~.”
He looked up at you, spit and arousal shining on the lower half of his face. “Feel good, baby?”
“So, good, you always make me feel so good.” You curled your fingers in his dark curls, pushing him back between your legs.
Chuckling at your impatience, he went right back to work. His hand slipped under the hem of your top again so he could squeeze and knead your breast, the other still holding your panties so he could get at you.
You tugged at his hair as he pressed his tongue against you and swirled it in uncontrolled circles.
When he was between your legs, all he cared about was giving you exactly what you wanted. What your body needed. You needed, he obliged, tongue continuing to flick and swirl against you.
“Don’t stop– I’ll...” Your thought died on a moan.
The locker room was filled with the wet sounds of him moving his mouth against you, and the loud lewd moans that you freely let out. You didn’t care if anybody was around to hear you. In fact, you wanted them to hear just how good Logan was to you.
He could feel himself getting drunk off of the taste of you, his body was warm and buzzing. He was starting to feel delirious as your hips rolled on him.
The pressure of his tongue on you was perfect, you could feel the pleasure build steadily within you.
“Your tongue feels so good, Loge,” you praised. You were close. So close.
“Then come for me,” he said as he slid two fingers inside of you, curving and caressing your walls.
Shockwaves of pleasure ran over you as you came, clenching on his fingers. He kept his mouth on you through it, humming and moaning at the taste of you.
When your body finally settled, he sat back on his knees, panting heavily as his lips glistened in the harsh fluorescent blue lighting. You reached over, pulling him in for another kiss, tasting yourself on his lips.
“Wanna ride you, Loge,” you mumbled against his lips.
Logan didn’t need to be told twice; he was already thumbling with his pants when you pulled back to take your panties off.
The pants were barely down past his knees when you gently pushed him to lie flat on the carpet and straddled him.
“Just lay back, let me take care of you now,” you soothed as you ground against him, leaving a trail of slick arousal on his aching dick.
He practically whimpered as you continued to slide over him.
“B-baby.” His hands came to your waist, thumbs digging into your skin through your top. “Let me fuck you.”
Looking down at him, his eyes were half-lidded as they pleaded you. Who were you to argue with those beautiful brown eyes.
Lifting your hips up slightly, you held his dick to guide it into your pussy.
As your hole stretched around his tip, he let out a strangled moan. You watched him as you slowly lowered yourself onto him, coming to a full seat.
He throbbed and twitched within you, his thick head leaking pre-cum. You circled your hips, relishing in the feeling of him rubbing against your walls.
You hadn’t even really moved yet and he already looked wrecked. His mouth was hung slightly open, eyes squeezed shut. You craved more, to see him absolutely shattered by you.
Bracing your hands on his on the still damp fabric of his Briar U jersey, you began to move. You don’t raise your hips high, choosing smaller bounces and grinds of your hips.
For a few minutes of bounces, he let you set your pace, grunting and groaning as you sensually moved over him.
Each bounce brought him to the brink of desperation, his restraint wearing thin.
The hands on your waist tightened as he helped guide your rhythm in desperation. He needed you faster, he needed you to slam back down onto him harder.
“You were so hot out there.” Your voice was breathy, bouncing on him the way you were had you exhausted. “I wanted to touch myself just watching you play.”
The praise made him grip you impossibly tighter, made him slam you back down even harder.
His dick curved just the right way to hit your g-spot, causing you to see stars as you clenched around him. You moaned in tandem, his head thrown back as a result of your vice grip.
You didn’t care that if anyone opened the door right now, they’d come face to face with you bouncing on it. He didn’t care that the carpet rubbed at his ass as he tried to thrust up into you, limited by his pants around his ankles.
All you both cared about was the way you were wrapped around him, and the sounds that tumbled from his mouth as he got close.
It took a few more harsh bounces from you for him to unload into you. The hands on your waist held you in place as he filled you up. You purposely clenched, milking him for all he had.
“Fucking hell.”
You collapsed against his padded chest, your forehead resting against his shoulder as your breathing slowed. You turned to inhale the fresh sweat on his neck. “You need a shower.”
Logan wrapped his arms around you, pulling you tighter against him. An exhausted smirk tugging at his lips. “So do you, coach is going to be pissed if you drip cum onto his floor.”
You were still furious with him, and his stupidly hot face. You knew the fight wasn’t actually over. But, if this is what being angry with Logan brought you, then you were more than happy to pick another fight tomorrow.

the funny thing about keeping your relationship with logan a secret was that neither of you had ever actually decided to.
if someone had asked during those first few weeks, you probably would’ve told them. there wasn’t anything scandalous about it. no reason to hide. nobody in your friend group would’ve cared beyond teasing the two of you for a while before eventually moving on.
it just… never came up.
the relationship itself had arrived so quietly that, looking back, neither of you could really pinpoint where friendship had ended and something else had begun.
after hockey season, you’d simply started spending more time together. study sessions that always seemed to run too late to justify walking back to your own dorm straight away. dinners that lasted twice as long as either of you intended because conversation came so easily with him. evenings spent wandering across campus without much destination in mind, filling the silence with the sort of conversations that only happened when neither person felt any pressure to keep talking.
somewhere between spring arriving and final exams looming over campus, he’d walked you back to your dorm after one of your study sessions like he always did.
the conversation had drifted off several minutes earlier, leaving only the sound of your footsteps against the pavement and the distant buzz of students enjoying one of the first genuinely warm evenings of the year.
you’d stopped outside your building. he’d looked at you for a moment before kissing you.
it hadn’t been particularly dramatic. there hadn’t been fireworks or declarations or some overwhelming certainty that everything had changed. it had simply felt… right.
afterward, logan had rubbed the back of his neck with the slightest hint of uncertainty before quietly asking if that had been okay. you’d kissed him again instead of answering.
that had been four months ago.
the next morning, you’d still met everyone for breakfast. logan had still sat beside you because he always did. you’d stolen fries from his plate because you always did. he’d walked you back to your dorm after classes because he always did.
the only real difference was that now, when nobody was looking, he’d steal a quick kiss before heading back across campus.
for a while, having something that belonged only to the two of you had been… nice.
your relationship existed outside everyone else’s opinions. there were no questions, no teasing, no constant interruptions every time one of you sat beside the other. it was just yours, tucked quietly into the spaces between lectures and late-night walks and evenings spent curled up together in your dorm.
eventually, though, the novelty faded.
more than once, one of you would look at the other and say, we should probably tell everyone.
the other would agree, but then someone would change the subject, or dinner would arrive, or you’d both forget. the conversation kept being postponed until it somehow became stranger to announce it than not to.
neither of you worried about it, because you assumed everyone would find out eventually. you just hadn’t anticipated it to take so long.
by the time coach finally called it, the sun had already started dipping behind the campus buildings, painting long shadows across the parking lot outside the arena. everyone was tired in that familiar, satisfying sort of way that followed a good skate. conversation came easier once helmets were off and sticks had been tossed carelessly into the back of trucks, the intensity of practice gradually giving way to the comfortable rhythm the team always seemed to settle into afterward.
logan adjusted the strap of his hockey bag higher on his shoulder as he stepped out of the rink. he’d texted you nearly an hour earlier.
logan: running late don’t wait if you’re hungry
you: too late already ordered enough fries for both of us x
he’d smiled to himself without really thinking about it.
logan: good
the parking lot had begun emptying by the time he started walking toward campus. several of the guys peeled off in different directions, climbing into cars or heading toward the hockey house, until eventually only garrett remained beside him since they had decided to carpool.
for a while, neither of them spoke. garrett, however, lasted about three more minutes until he felt the need to break the silence, “you know…”
logan glanced over. garrett shoved his hands into the pockets of his hoodie, looking ahead as though the conversation wasn’t particularly important, “y/n’s cool.”
logan nodded once, “yeah.”
garrett continued walking, “i mean it.”
“i know.”
“she’s funny.”
another nod from logan, “she is.”he wasn’t entirely sure where the conversation was going yet.
people complimented their friends all the time. it didn’t seem especially noteworthy. garrett kept talking anyway, “she actually knows hockey.”
“yeah.”
“which is rare.”
logan thought about the number of times you’d sat through games you hadn’t understood at first, asking quiet questions until the rules gradually began making sense. now you caught missed penalties before half the people around you did. you’d been strangely pleased with yourself the first time that happened. he’d been pleased too, though.
“she’s easy to be around,” garrett said.
logan looked at him, “…she is.”
there wasn’t much point pretending otherwise; you were. conversation with you never felt forced, and silence didn’t either. most evenings, the two of you could spend hours together without either of you feeling the need to constantly fill the space between you. logan had never realised how rare that was until he’d found it.
garrett slowed slightly as they reached the crosswalk outside the arena and looked sideways at logan, “you should ask her out.”
the traffic light changed. logan waited for a car to pass before stepping off the curb, “oh, i already did.”
garrett laughed. not the polite sort of laugh people gave when they weren’t sure whether someone was joking. it was a genuine laugh, “yeah?”
logan frowned faintly, “yeah.”
“good one,” garrett laughed again.
for a second, logan wondered whether he’d said something wrong. then he realised garrett thought he was kidding, but before he could explain, garrett was already talking again, “seriously, though, i think you’d really like her.”
you discovered hannah’s theory by the middle of the semester over afternoon coffee.
the two of you had escaped campus between lectures, ducking into della’s diner. it had become something of an unspoken tradition over the past year. whenever your schedules lined up, you’d spend an hour there together before heading back to class, talking about everything and absolutely nothing until one of you inevitably glanced at the time and realised you were already running late.
that afternoon was no different. hannah was halfway through describing one of garrett’s increasingly questionable cooking experiments when she paused.
her expression shifted ever so slightly. not dramatically, just enough that you’d learned to recognise she was about to say something she’d clearly been thinking about for a while.
she stirred her coffee absentmindedly before looking up, “can i ask you something?”
you nodded, “always.”
her spoon clinked softly against the side of her mug, “have you ever thought about logan?”
thankfully, your coffee was already back on the table, otherwise, you suspected you might’ve dropped it. you blinked as you did your best to keep your expression neutral, “in what way?”
hannah shrugged one shoulder, “in a dating way.”
you hummed thoughtfully, lowering your eyes to your drink before she could read your face too closely, “why are you asking?”
she smiled to herself, “i don’t know.” which, coming from hannah, almost certainly meant she knew exactly why. she tucked one leg beneath herself in the booth before continuing, “i’ve just been watching you two.”
your heart gave the smallest, traitorous little skip. not because you thought she’d figured it out, but because she was far more observant than most people gave her credit for.
you’d spent the last four months being careful. never sitting too close when everyone else was around. never holding hands unless nobody could see. keeping kisses to empty hallways, quiet walks back to your dorm, and the brief moments before one of you inevitably headed home for the night.
you’d convinced yourself nobody had noticed and, for the first time, you wondered if maybe someone had.
hannah rested both hands around her mug, “he always ends up sitting beside you.”
you smiled faintly, “there’s usually a free seat.”
“maybe.” she shrugged, but she looked unconvinced, “but he always notices when you leave the room.”
you hadn’t realised anyone else had noticed that. it happened almost unconsciously; whether you were getting another drink, answering your phone, or stepping away to use the bathroom, his eyes almost always followed you for a second before returning to whatever conversation he’d been having.
he didn’t seem aware he was doing it and neither had you. until now.
hannah continued, counting quietly on her fingers, “he remembers everything you tell him.”
you opened your mouth to answer, but immediately closed it again. she wasn’t wrong.
logan remembered things. all sorts of things. the name of your favourite author after you’d mentioned it once in passing. which professor insisted on surprise quizzes every friday. how you always ordered extra fries but never ate the last one. the way you preferred your coffee. the fact that you hated walking across campus with wet socks after it rained.
he carried little pieces of information about you as though remembering them required no effort at all.
“and,” hannah added, smiling into her coffee now, “he always makes sure someone walks you home after group nights.”
this time, you couldn’t help smiling. not because she was wrong, but because she thought it was someone. she had no idea that, more often than not, the someone was logan himself.
you looked back at her, “you’ve thought about this a lot.”
she laughed softly, “a little.”
“a little?”
“okay.”she grinned, “more than a little.”
you shook your head, laughing under your breath, “so…”
hannah leaned forward just enough to rest her elbows on the table, “i think he likes you.”
you let the silence linger for a second. eventually, you took another sip of your coffee, “you think?”
she nodded immediately, “i’m almost certain.”
you traced absentminded circles around the rim of your mug, “i’ll keep that in mind.”
hannah smiled, clearly satisfied she’d done her part.
malone’s was busier than it had been when you’d first arrived; conversations overlapping beneath the steady hum of music drifting through the speakers. pool balls cracked together somewhere behind you every few minutes, punctuated by the occasional cheer whenever someone managed an unexpectedly good shot. every booth seemed occupied, and the warm scent of fried food lingered in the air long after the plates had been cleared away.
the eight of you had claimed the same corner booth you always seemed to end up in.
tucker and dean were arguing over something that had happened during practice earlier that afternoon. allie was attempting to convince hannah that dean had, in fact, exaggerated the entire story. garrett kept interrupting to make things objectively less accurate, while beau looked increasingly entertained the longer the argument continued.
logan sat quietly beside you, only contributing every now and then with the sort of dry comment that somehow made everyone laugh harder than the original story had.
the first round of drinks disappeared into a second. someone ordered fries for the table, garrett immediately claiming most of them.
eventually, dean pushed himself upright, “pool.”
nobody seemed particularly invested one way or the other, but everyone followed him toward the tables anyway.
there was a brief discussion about teams. mostly because dean insisted there needed to be strategy involved despite nobody else caring very much who they played with.
he looked around the group for a moment before pointing at you and logan, “you two, you’re together.”
a silent looked passed between the two of you, but neither of you questioned it, “alright.”
dean looked absurdly pleased with himself and you caught the expression immediately. logan, apparently, did not. he’d already reached for one of the cues leaning against the wall, turning it over once in his hands before offering it to you instead, “this one’s straighter.”
you accepted it automatically, “thanks.”
the game started. calling it competitive would’ve been generous. beau insisted dean wasn’t keeping score properly. dean insisted beau simply couldn’t count. garrett somehow managed to sink the cue ball twice within five minutes. allie laughed so hard she almost missed her own turn.
you weren’t especially good at pool. you’d played often enough to understand the rules, but accuracy remained … inconsistent. halfway through the game, you leaned over the table, squinting down the cue as you tried to line up a shot that looked considerably easier in theory than it did in practice.
you adjusted your grip. then adjusted it again, but something still felt wrong.
before you had the chance to rethink it a third time, logan stepped quietly beside you. he didn’t say anything straight away. instead, he looked from the cue to the angle of your arm before gently reaching for your hand, “here.” his voice stayed low enough that only you heard it. his fingers shifted yours slightly higher along the cue, “you’re holding it too tight.”
his hand was warm and steady against yours. he moved your wrist barely half an inch before stepping back again, his attention returning to the table as though nothing particularly noteworthy had happened, “try that.”
you did and suddenly the ball rolled neatly across the felt. two seconds later, it disappeared cleanly into the corner pocket. you stared after it, “huh.”
logan’s mouth lifted at one corner, “better.”
“little bit,” you smiled despite yourself.
across the room, dean noticed the entire interaction. he leaned sideways toward allie, “see?”
allie followed his gaze, “what?”
“chemistry.”
she looked back toward the two of you. logan was already focused on the table again while you circled around the opposite side, trying to decide which shot came next.
“i think he just helped her,” she knitted her brows as she looked back at the blonde.
“exactly.”
“you’ve become weirdly invested in this.”
“i just think they’d be good together,” he shrugged.
she smiled to herself, “they would.”
by the time the game ended, nobody seemed entirely sure who had actually won. dean claimed it had been your team, but beau disagreed loudly, and garrett insisted the score had become irrelevant after someone accidentally knocked two balls off the table.
eventually, everyone gave up trying to work it out.
chairs scraped against the wooden floor as people stood, conversations overlapped while jackets were pulled on, and someone inevitably realised they’d forgotten to close their tab just as everyone else reached the door. after a few hours, the evening had settled into the comfortable kind of tiredness that came from spending too long laughing with people you genuinely enjoyed being around.
outside, the air had cooled considerably.
the streets were quieter than they’d been when you’d arrived, most of the foot traffic now made up of students wandering back toward campus in small groups. the lights from the bars spilled across the sidewalks, catching against puddles left behind by an afternoon shower and turning them gold.
everyone lingered outside for a minute or two, deciding who was walking where.
dean and allie had parked across the street, garrett and hannah were already arguing over whether they had enough food left at the hockey house to avoid another late-night grocery run, and beau and tucker had somehow wandered into an entirely separate conversation before anyone else had finished saying goodbye.
you slipped your arms into your jacket, only half paying attention.
“i’ve got to head this way,” you said absentmindedly, nodding toward the opposite side of campus, “my dorm’s clear across the other end.”
before anyone could answer, allie looked toward logan who was stood beside you, “logan, can walk you back, right?”
the suggestion landed so naturally that nobody questioned it. logan didn’t hesitate, “yeah.”
you caught the smile dean tried, and failed, to hide. it lasted barely a second before he looked away, but you’d seen it. you knew exactly what he thought had just happened.
allie, on the other hand, looked entirely unconcerned. if she had any ulterior motive, she hid it considerably better than dean ever could. she simply smiled at you, wished you both goodnight, and climbed into the passenger seat of dean’s truck.
one by one, everyone drifted away. before long, only you and logan remained standing beneath the glow of the streetlights outside malone’s, “ready?”
you nodded, “ready.”
the walk back toward campus began in easy silence. you’d discovered early on that neither of you felt any pressure to speak simply because there was empty space to fill. sometimes one of you started talking after a few minutes. sometimes neither of you did. either way, it never felt awkward.
the sidewalks were damp beneath your feet, carrying the faint scent of rain and warm pavement. somewhere across campus, music drifted lazily through the night air before disappearing again as you turned down a quieter path lined with trees.
logan matched his pace to yours without seeming to think about it. he always walked slightly slower when he was with you. not enough that anyone else would notice, but just enough that you never had to hurry to keep up.
you’d made it halfway across campus before you finally smiled to yourself. logan glanced over, “what?”
you shook your head, “i think everyone’s trying to set us up.”
he blinked, “what?”
“garrett, hannah, dean, and now allie,” you gestured vaguely behind you, toward the direction of malone’s, “they’re trying to get us together.”
logan was quiet. you watched him think, his gaze dropping briefly toward the pavement as he replayed the last few weeks in his head. you almost saw the moment everything clicked into place, “oh.”
you smiled, “there it is.”
he looked back at you, “they are trying to set us up.” another few steps passed before he spoke again, “i didn’t notice.”
“i know.”
he rubbed absently at the back of his neck as he chuckled, “i thought garrett was just being friendly.”
you returned the laugh, “he was.”
“…and dean?”
“less subtle.”
“huh.”his expression settled somewhere between thoughtful and faintly amused. for another minute, neither of you said anything. then, quietly— “that’s kind of nice.”
you looked at him, “what is?”
“they like you,” his mouth twitched and the smile that appeared was small enough that most people would’ve missed it entirely.
you didn’t, though. you never did.
the path narrowed as you approached your dorm, forcing the two of you a little closer together. your shoulder brushed his once, then again a few steps later.
the building came into view not long afterward, its windows glowing softly against the dark campus.
you stopped near the entrance and for a moment, neither of you spoke. the night had settled comfortably around you, carrying the distant sounds of laughter from somewhere across campus. “thanks,” you said.
logan looked at you, “for what?”
“walking me home.”
he seemed almost surprised by the question, “always, you know that”
the answer came so simply. as though there had never been another possibility.
something warm settled quietly in your chest. you stepped a little closer, close enough that nobody looking out from the dorm windows would’ve noticed anything unusual. your fingers briefly caught the sleeve of his hoodie, “i know.”
his hands found yours for the smallest moment, hidden between the two of you. he gave them one gentle squeeze before slowly leaning closer to place a soft kiss against your lips, “night.”
the hockey house was unusually quiet that evening. someone had left a hockey game playing on the television more out of habit than genuine interest, and dean and garrett were arguing half-heartedly over something that had happened during practice while tucker scrolled aimlessly through his phone.
allie and hannah occupied opposite ends of the couch, comparing notes for a class neither of you had been unfortunate enough to take.
logan had disappeared upstairs twenty minutes earlier to shower after practice.
you’d made yourself comfortable in the corner of the couch with one of your textbooks balanced across your knees, though you’d spent considerably longer reading the same paragraph than actually understanding it.
your attention drifted every few minutes. sometimes toward the television. sometimes toward whatever dean was complaining about now. sometimes… toward the staircase.
you heard footsteps before you looked up and logan appeared a second later, still rubbing a towel absently through his damp hair. he’d changed into gray sweats and a faded briar hoodie, the sleeves pushed halfway up his forearms. his hair was still slightly damp around the edges, curling faintly where it hadn’t quite dried yet.
your eyes lifted from the textbook almost automatically.
the smallest smile appeared the moment he noticed you. he wandered into the living room, only half paying attention to whatever dean was saying.
as he drew closer, you noticed one of the hoodie strings had twisted itself awkwardly beneath the collar.
without thinking—
completely, utterly without thinking—
you held out your hand, “logan.”
he stopped beside the couch, “hm?”
“come here.”
he stepped closer immediately. not because you’d sounded particularly serious. simply because you’d asked.
you reached up, gently tugging the twisted drawstring free before smoothing the collar flat against his chest. the fabric had folded awkwardly beneath the hood, so you fixed that too, “there.”
logan glanced down briefly, “thanks.”
you brushed one last damp strand of hair away from his forehead before letting your hand fall. the movement had become so instinctive over the past few months that neither of you gave it a second thought.
logan certainly didn’t, because he leaned down to press a brief kiss against your forehead before dropping onto the couch beside you. his hand found yours beneath the blanket draped across your lap with the same unconscious ease he’d done it a hundred times before.
it took several more seconds before you realised the room had gone completely silent.
you looked up to find that dean had stopped talking mid-sentence, garrett still held an unopened bag of chips in one hand, hannah was looking between the two of you with an expression that suggested several months’ worth of observations had suddenly rearranged themselves into one very obvious conclusion, allie blinked only once, and beau looked at each face in turn, then at you, then at logan. the corners of his mouth started twitching.
logan followed your gaze around the room, “oh.”
you looked at him, “shit, we forgot.”
dean found his voice first, “what.”
neither of you answered immediately. mostly because there didn’t seem to be much else to say.
you and logan looked at each other before you finally closed your textbook and set it carefully on the coffee table, “we’re dating.”
silence. dean blinked, again, “what.”
“logan and i are dating.”
another pause and garrett frowned, “since when?”
this time, logan answered, “about four months.”
garrett slowly lowered the bag of chips onto the coffee table as though any sudden movement might somehow change what he’d just heard, “four months.”
logan nodded, “yeah.”
garrett looked genuinely wounded, “i told you to ask her out.”
“i know.”
“you were already dating.”
“yeah.”
garrett stared at him, “why didn’t you tell me?”
logan frowned slightly, considering the question with complete sincerity, “well, you didn’t ask.”
beau made a noise somewhere between a laugh and a cough. dean ignored him completely as he looked between you and logan, “hold on.”he pointed accusingly between the two of you, “the pool game.”
you looked at him, “what about it?”
“i put you two together.”
“you did.”
“because i was trying to set you up,” he voice raised slightly as he spoke, obviously in complete disbelief.
“we know.”
“you knew?”
you nodded and dean looked personally offended, “the walk home from malone’s.”he turned toward allie, “you literally asked him to walk her home.”
allie slowly covered her face with one hand, “oh my god.”
you smiled apologetically, “he’d actually been walking me home for months.”
allie let out a quiet groan, “we spent an entire semester trying to get these two together.”
another beat of silence passed. then beau finally gave up trying to hold it in. his laugh echoed through the living room, loud enough that dean shot him an unimpressed look before the sound became contagious.
garrett started laughing next. then tucker. even hannah eventually shook her head, smiling into her coffee, “to be fair,” she said, “i did tell her i thought logan liked her.”
you laughed, “you did.”
hannah looked at you, “you could’ve said something.”
“…probably.”
dean threw both hands into the air, “probably?!”
you couldn’t help but smiling, “it was kind of funny.”
dean stared, “funny??”
then beau laughed even harder. dean dropped backward onto the couch with the sort of dramatic resignation usually reserved for championship losses, “i cannot believe,” he muttered, rubbing both hands over his face, “i spent four months accidentally rooting for a relationship that already existed.”
logan gave him a sarcastic smile, “hey, thanks.”
dean groaned loud enough for the entire house to hear, which only made everyone laugh harder.
through the middle of it all, unnoticed by everyone except you, logan’s fingers tightened gently around yours beneath the blanket, and when you looked around the room and found everyone still laughing at dean’s expense, you realized there wasn’t any reason to hide it anymore.
mr. handyman. literally every single thing that falls apart in your life, logan’s there to fix it. kitchen cabinets coming loose? great, he’s fixing them. doors squeaky? he’s already on it. something wrong with your car? perfect—he’s taking his shirt off (for your eye candy) and getting to work. and he’s not one of those sexist assholes who thinks men have to fix things while women just stand there and yelp when things fall apart. he actually makes a habit of fixing things with you there, showing you how to do it so next time you can handle it yourself in case he’s not around.
this sweet, sweet man with those pretty doe eyes cannot stay mad at you for more than a day. if he has to go to sleep without fixing things with you, he feels like he might actually die. he just can’t do it. so when you two argue, like normal couples do, he always gives you both time to cool down before coming back to you to offer your favorite takeout, lots of kisses and cuddles, a movie night, and his heart practically in his hands just so you could forgive him. anything. he’ll do anything. just don’t stay mad at him.
as much as he’s a homebody, he actually loves going out—especially with you. restaurants, new cafés, movie theaters, hiking spots, even loud busy bars he’s not usually a fan off. and he’s always patient, giving you all the time you need to get ready without rushing you. and when you’re finally done and looking pretty, he’ll have you leave a bright lipstick kiss on his jaw, visible for everyone to see he’s taken, before you head out together. his favorite part about this whole thing is walking with your hands intertwined and sharing food.
again, he’s big on acts of service. waking up a little earlier to make you breakfast because you’re too lazy to make something yourself and usually skip it. taking the time to draw you a bath after a long day. making your drinks exactly how you like them—no ice, because you hate the watery taste when it melts, buying you things you’ve run out of, whether it’s your favorite snacks or products. taking your makeup off for you when you’re too tired. giving you massages, filling your gas tank—he’s all about it.
he’s so starved for you, so don’t expect him to leave you alone when you’re both home with nothing to do. he constantly has you laying on top of him, just lazing the day away. cooking simple meals together, which he’s surprisingly good at. he believes staying practically glued to you the entire time is good for his mental health and it’d be cruel to deny him.
this man figured out your weakness long before you even started dating that you can never keep your hands to yourself when he’s sweaty, fresh out of the gym. so when you move in together, he starts timing it, leaving the gym just a little after you get home. the second he walks through the door, your eyes snap to him, the sight of him making your knees weak, heat pooling in all the right places. and you don’t even try to fight it. you just walk up to him, grab him, and kiss him deep, fully intending to have those sweaty, ripped biceps wrapped around you in a tight headlock.
warnings: dirty jokes (Dean being Dean), fluff, chasing, making out, use of pretty girl and baby, swearing
summary: in which the boys face off the girls in laser tag, but you reach a dead end as Boyfriend!John Logan chases you

a/n: this could’ve been dirty AF but didn't think Logan was much of a dark romance, Haunting Adeline guy... or do i?
“Suck on that, Dean!” Allie cheered, firing her laser gun straight into Dean's chest.
The loud buzz of his vest echoed through the arena.
Allie was such a girl boss. Honestly, you sometimes wondered how Dean had managed to get so lucky.
“I've got something else you could suck on,” Dean shot back with a grin before immediately taking off.
“You're dead!” Allie yelled, already sprinting after him.
Dean's laughter echoed through the maze as he disappeared around a corner, Allie's footsteps pounding after him without hesitation.
That left four people.
Well... three if Allie didn't eventually strangle Dean somewhere in the arena.
Just Tucker, Logan and you.
The dim room pulsed beneath flashing neon lights that painted everything in shifting blues and reds, making shadows jump across the maze of walls and crates. Every heartbeat felt louder than the music, adrenaline already pumping through your veins as you moved cautiously between cover. The boys had spent the entire game hunting you down, and every distant footstep made your pulse spike all over again.
A flicker of movement caught your eye behind a stack of boxes. You ducked behind a nearby wall, holding your breath as you peeked around the edge.
Target acquired.
Without giving him a chance to react, you leaned out and squeezed the trigger. His vest buzzed instantly.
“Bye bye, Tucker!” you celebrated with a victorious laugh.
Tucker threw both hands into the air in surrender. “Lucky shot,” he muttered, already making his way back to reception where everyone else waited.
Now it was just you. And your boyfriend. A one on one.
The muffled cheers from reception carried through the arena.
“Give him hell!” Hannah shouted.
“Don't let him distract you!” Sabrina called.
Smiling to yourself, you slowed your breathing and carefully circled the arena, every step deliberate as your eyes searched every corner.
Then you saw it. Barely visible behind a wall. The barrel of a laser gun. A grin tugged at your lips.
Got you.
You crept forward as quietly as possible, already picturing Logan's annoyed face when you eliminated him. The second you reached the corner, you swung out and fired directly where he'd been...
Nothing. “What?” Your gun lowered slightly as confusion replaced your confidence.
Where had he-
Something hard pressed against your lower back. The unmistakable barrel of a laser gun.
“Hey, pretty girl.” His voice brushed against your ear.
You spun around. Logan stood inches away, that infuriatingly smug grin spread across his face.
Instead of pulling the trigger, you ran.
A laugh escaped him almost immediately. “Oh, you're making this fun.”
You darted between walls, cutting sharply around crates before vaulting over a low barrier. The soles of your shoes slapped against the floor as you zigzagged through the maze, throwing quick glances over your shoulder.
He was still there.
Still following.
Not sprinting.
Not panicking.
Just keeping pace.
Like he already knew exactly where you were going.
You ducked around another corner, doubled back through a narrow passage and slipped behind a cluster of barrels, hoping to lose him long enough to circle around and catch him from behind.
Nothing.
Then footsteps. Steady, unhurried and growing closer.
You burst from your hiding spot and took off again. God, you were getting a workout, but you weren’t complaining.
There was something exhilarating about it. The thrill of the chase. The knowledge that it was your boyfriend relentlessly hunting you down.
“Don't run from me, baby!” Logan called, amusement dripping from every word.
His voice sounded much closer than it should have. You weren't losing him. You took a sharp right, immediately cut left, vaulted another row of boxes before skidding to an abrupt stop. A solid black wall towered in front of you.
Dead end.
“Oh, you've got to be kidding me.” Your head whipped around, desperately searching for another exit. There wasn't one.
Footsteps echoed behind you. Slow and confident.
Logan rounded the corner with maddening ease, not even breathing hard with his dands loose at his sides.
A lazy smile on his face. “You lost?” he purred.
You lifted your laser gun, refusing to back down despite the corner you'd found yourself trapped in.
Both of you were competitive, neither willing to lose.
“One more step,” you warned with a smug smile, “and you're out of the game, love.”
His grin only widened. “You sure about that?”
Before your finger could fully squeeze the trigger, Logan exploded into motion.
He closed the distance in a heartbeat, twisting just enough for your laser to flash harmlessly past his shoulder before his body collided with yours. The impact pushed you gently but firmly against the wall.
His hand instinctively cradled the back of your head before it could knock against the surface behind you, cushioning the movement so naturally it stole the breath from your lungs almost as much as what came next.
His lips found yours without hesitation, like he'd been waiting all game to do exactly this.
Your laser gun slipped from your fingers, clattering forgotten onto the floor as both of your hands found him instead. One tangled through the slightly damp strands of his hair from all the running while the other settled against the rough stubble along his jaw, smiling into the kiss as it brushed softly against your skin.
The kiss deepened naturally, slow enough to savour but charged with all the adrenaline still racing through your bodies. Every stolen breath only pulled you closer, your fingers tightening in his hair as he smiled faintly against your lips before capturing them again, making your heart pound even harder than the game ever had.
His arm slid securely beneath your thigh as he effortlessly lifted you against him. Instinctively, your legs wrapped around his waist. The world outside disappeared.
Eventually he drew back only far enough for your foreheads to rest together, both of you breathing harder than before, lips flushed from the kiss.
“I love chasing you,” he murmured, the corners of his mouth still curled into a smile.
A breathless laugh escaped you. “I love being chased by you.”
His eyes softened. You leaned in again, barely an inch separating your lips.
“Don't take it personally, baby.”
You blinked. “What are you-” A loud buzz erupted from the speakers.
You frowned and then felt the unmistakable barrel of his laser gun resting against your side. Your eyes widened as you saw your vest lit up. “You…”
A slow, mischievous grin spread across his face.
“You used kissing as a distraction!”
“I absolutely did.”
A chorus of cheers exploded from reception. You both looked up, horror spread across your face as every single person had been watching.
Dean doubled over laughing. “I knew Allie and I weren't the only ones getting busy!”
Allie smacked him across the arm. “Oh, shut up!”
Still wrapped around Logan's waist, you buried your face against his shoulder for a second before both of you dissolved into laughter.
“You're the worst,” you mumbled.
“And yet…” he stole one last quick kiss. “…I still won.”
Rolling your eyes, you finally slipped back onto your feet, picked up your abandoned laser gun and walked back towards reception beside him, already plotting exactly how you'd get your revenge next game.

Practice ended thirty minutes ago.
I’ve been sitting in the stands waiting patiently for thirty minutes, but I’m growing tired. The place is empty, not a single noise around besides that of Logan on the ice.
My boyfriend, being the anxious perfectionist he is, won’t stop his laps around the rink. Whether he’s taking shots or working on his speed, it’s all becoming a blur and making my head spin.
I begin walking closer to the edge of the rink; Logan notices and slows down, skating towards me.
“John, I’m tired, how long are you gonna be?” I call out.
As he reaches the wall of the rink where I’m standing, he takes off his helmet, whipping his hair back and out of his face.
Fuck, that was hot.
Damp and curly from sweat, his dark hair frames his slightly flushed face beautifully. He looks so masculine in his gear, shoulders broad and strong. The skates also make him taller, so he’s towering over me more than usual.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he looks at me with his big brown eyes, “I don’t know how long I’m gonna take. I just wanna practice until I feel more confident.”
He leans forward, resting his arms on the wall to the side of me. His voice barely registers in my head because I’m so mesmerised by how he looks right now. Shoving my dirty thoughts to the back of my mind, I focus my attention on what he’s just said.
“You work ten times harder than anybody else on this team,” I start, placing my hand on his gloved one, “So, you should be ten times more confident than them too. John, I promise you are so talented. Maybe practice didn’t go how you wanted today, but that doesn’t define you as a player. You shouldn’t overwork yourself, my love. You need to rest.”
Letting out a deep sigh, he releases some of the tension in his shoulders. His doe eyes find mine again and I could just swoon at the sight.
“You’re so perfect,” he breathes, wrapping an arm around my waist, “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” I smile before he leans in and gives me a gentle kiss.
The familiar feeling of his lips on mine drains the last bit of self control left in me right now.
“Would now be a bad time to say, ‘I really need you’?” I ask shyly.
He raises an eyebrow, unsure if he’s understanding me correctly.
“John,” I say quietly, looking up at him through my lashes, “I need you.”
Realisation settles in his features.
“Practice can wait,” he shrugs, a grin taking over his face.
Wasting no time, I pull him close, our lips colliding. Logan abandons his stick and helmet on the floor, ripping his gloves off along with them. His bare hands find my waist, digging into me through the thin fabric of my shirt. The heat of his body near me is enough to keep me warm in this cold rink. He pulls me close, being slightly blocked by the wall of the rink between us.
“Get up here,” Logan’s gravelly voice demands as he taps the top of the wall, where he was leaning his arms moments ago.
Without hesitation, I swing my legs over, resting my ass on the wall, feet dangling below. Now, with nothing blocking Logan’s path to me, he smirks, spreading my legs apart to stand between them.
“Good girl,” he whispers in my ear before gently nibbling and kissing my lobe.
My stomach flips upon hearing the praise and I can feel my panties turning damp. Logan keeps a firm grip on my hips to make sure I don’t lose my balance, given the fact I’m sitting on a not-so-stable ledge. But, the feeling of his large hands grasping me turns me on even more—it’s possessive but gentle in a way that’s so hot.
By now, Logan has turned his attention to my neck, biting and sucking the sensitive skin, making me whimper softly in response. He moves his mouth back to mine and I start kissing him passionately, eager for his taste. Our tongues collide desperately, searching to deepen the kiss and satiate our hunger. I moan against his lips, feeling my pussy getting wetter by the second.
“John…” I mumble against his mouth, and pull back slightly, “Baby, I’m so wet.”
Immediately, he shifts one hand to reach my throbbing pussy, eager to satisfy my aching desire, but he's blocked by the awkward way I’m sitting.
“You’re gonna have to stand up for me, baby,” he instructs, and I do as he says.
Holding one of my legs up, to create easier access to my soaking mess, Logan reaches into the front of my sweatpants and starts teasing me, rubbing my clit softly. My head bends back as I let out a soft moan of pleasure. This prompts him to start kissing my neck again, before he moves down to kiss the area exposed by the low neckline of my shirt.
“Take your shirt off,” Logan’s voice is deep, starving, and I feel his fingers moving further down my pussy.
“Here?!” I ask, briefly flicking my eyes to survey our surroundings.
“My hand is already in your pants, it can’t get much worse,” he laughs, “Plus, there’s nobody here, it’ll be fine.”
His eyes are pleading with me, and I’m anyways aching to feel him on my bare skin, so I rip off my shirt, discarding it behind me. Logan’s eyes turn dark and he inserts two fingers into me as he begins kissing down my torso. I steady myself, fingers gripping the wall behind me.
“Bra,” he mumbles against me and I unhook it quickly.
He takes one of my tits in his mouth, sucking the nipple and circling his tongue around it sensually. Moaning, I arch my back into him, hoping for more. His fingers have found a steady rhythm inside me, moving back and forth, making me writhe in pleasure. Logan knows exactly how to make me feel good, curving his fingers perfectly to reach my g-spot.
Moving up to start kissing my neck again, he praises me quietly, “You’re taking this so well.”
I whimper, loving the sound of his deep voice encouraging me. His mouth leaves my neck and he stands straighter to look at me. At the same time, the speed of his fingers increases, causing the pleasure in me to build quickly. My back arches further, hips bucking towards him.
Nearing my climax, I whine loudly, “Fuck, John, I’m so close.”
“That’s it, good girl,” he continues to praise me, his velvet voice sliding in my ears, “Let me watch you come.”
His words and frantic movements inside me push me over the edge, and I moan loudly as the orgasm washes over me. The ecstasy is blinding and I see stars, throwing my head back, overcome with pleasure. Logan’s fingers slow, but don’t fully stop as I clench around him, trembling slightly as the orgasm travels through me.
“You did such a good job,” he affirms while kissing my forehead.
Panting, I look up at him as he takes his fingers out of my pants, and I sigh at the loss of contact. Bringing his wet fingers to his mouth, he looks me deep in the eyes as he licks my arousal off himself. The sight has me ready for his touch on me again; I pull him in and kiss him intensely.
My naked torso suddenly remembers the cold and I pull back from Logan.
“As much as I want you right now, I’m freezing my tits off. Literally.” I shiver slightly as I reach for my shirt.
He laughs. The sound is rich and like music to my ears.
“Sorry, baby, I forgot how cold it is.”
I put my clothes on and Logan helps me back over the barrier of the rink before joining me. Holding my hand, he guides me through the tunnel and into the hallway that leads to the locker room. He suddenly stops and turns to face me.
“Is it less cold here?”
“Yea, why—”
Interrupting me with a kiss, he pushes me against the wall.
“I can’t wait any longer,” he murmurs, kissing my already-swollen lips.
His hands are holding my face while his hips grind into me. The feeling of Logan’s hard dick through our clothes has me whimpering into his mouth. He lazily drags his hands down my body before hooking them under my ass and lifting me up. I wrap my legs around him and his hands hold my thighs. To help keep me elevated, he presses me into the wall, firmly enough for his dick to poke me in a way that’s intoxicating.
After pulling one another’s pants out of the way, Logan wastes no time inserting himself into me. Upon doing so, he groans, resting his head in the crook of my neck. I let out a sigh at the feeling of him expanding my opening. He begins to kiss my neck softly while he mumbles to me.
“You feel so good. I love how wet you get for me, baby.”
I hum, beaming at the compliments.
Finally adjusted to the feeling of Logan’s dick in me, he starts grinding into me, hips rolling back and forth. I clutch at his hair, slowly getting lost in the feeling of him fucking me. He starts to speed up, pounding into me with the perfect intensity. My back begins to arch once more, and I let out a deep moan, blinded by pleasure. Logan whimpers slightly at the sound of me, his grip on my thighs tightening.
“Be loud for me,” he breathes, voice hoarse as he continues moving in and out of me.
The coil inside me begins to tighten as I feel my climax nearing, Logan scraping against my g-spot with every movement. My eyes roll back in my head as the pleasure becomes almost unbearable.
“I’m gonna come,” I whine, tilting my head back and arching my back.
Within a couple seconds, I came, moaning heavily as the orgasm ran through me. Logan continued to roll his hips into me, getting sloppy as he neared his own climax.
“Are you close?” I pant, hoping to help him along.
“Mhm,” he whimpers, “Let me come in you, pretty girl.”
“I’m all yours,” I whisper softly in his ear and he quickly finishes, filling me up.
He jerks into me one last time as he comes down from the high, breathing deeply. Lazily kissing along my jaw, down to my collarbone, he smiles against my skin.

Snapshots into John Logan's relationship
Not proofread, i have a migraine 😪
Logan has always known what his life would become after graduating. Everyone around him would move forward, go to the NHL or go work regular jobs, move around, settle down with their families. Not him though, he!d have to take care of his good-for-nothing, drunkard excuse of a father. Jeff would finally be free from the shackles of watching the old man drink himself sick into throwing up and then whining about his self-inflicted turmoil.
Jeff had a girl, and he deserved to marry her after everything he'd gone through so Logan could get through college, even if the degree was ultimately worthless, not like he could do anything with it. His life had been decided by fate at a very young age, it wasn't his own anymore once his father became a drunk. His life was boiled down to being a caretaker, a slave to the very man who had a hand in creating him.
Even though he hated what was coming, he couldn't bring it in himself to hate his father. He remembered being a kid, the man he used to be, the father who'd tuck him and Jeff into their beds at night, the father who said he loved him. He hadn't said that in years. Logan wondered if he still loved his dad or just the memories in his head that he clung to, hoping and dreaming that he'd wake up one day and the bad parts were all just dreams.
But they weren't, and Logan knew that, which is why he tried so hard, so hard, to not love you. You were air, you were his new dream, the one he could dream about without even sleeping. And he never feared that the dreams would make a turn for the worse because how could they? How could a dream with you in it ever be bad when you were the light shining in all of them?
You had been a freshman, which Dean would have warned him about, had you not been 20 and taken two gap years, something the blonde could commend you for. Your uncle was the coach, which would have scared Logan off immediately had you not been so...you.
Your smile was bright, so bright that Logan caught himself trying to make you laugh more and more when he was around you just to see it. Everyone noticed it, he'd deny it, say "no, no, she's coach's niece, i'd never go for it." But he would, and he did.
"Can I take you to dinner on Friday?" He'd asked you after practice one day, knees almost buckling when you looked up at him.
"Like a team dinner?"
"No, uh...just us. The two of us. Together." He'd asked swallowed, nervous now. He saw you process it before you smiled.
"If you're asking me out, do it properly."
"Y/n L/n, will you do me the honor of going out with me to dinner on Friday night?"
"Woah there, you're asking me out on a date, not proposing."
"I can't do anything right here, can I?" I scoff, smiling boyishly.
"I'd love to go out this Friday. Pick me up at 7:00?"
"It's a date."
And it was. If he'd been nervous before, all worries flew out the window once you opened the door for him on Friday looking worse for wear. Your nose was red, eyes the same shade to match. You'd looked confused.
"What are you- I texted you, didn't I?" You looked around for your phone, letting him step inside. You grabbed your phone, checking the messages before sighing. "I forgot to hit send..."
"Cold?" Logan asked, slipping his shoes off, setting the pink roses down. He knew you had a cat and you'd talked his ear off one day about how pretty much every flower was toxic to cats, minus roses and sunflowers and a few others. He'd pocketed that information for this.
"I dunno." You sniffled. "I think it's stress. Some girl was out sick, she sits next to me in physics, and then the next couple days I had a horrendous migraine." He frowned as you sat on the couch, curling in on yourself.
"Do you want me to leave or should I just order us some food and we stay in?" He asked, leaning against the wall that joined the living room to the kitchen, his eyes on you.
"I don't want to get you sick, or make you feel like you have-"
"I want to stay, if you want me to stay." He said. You pouted, eyes softening.
"I do." The minute you'd said it, he was stepping forward and sitting with you on the couch, pulling you into his arms and letting you melt into him.
"Did you take medicine?" He asked.
"I did, it didn't help much." You sighed.
"Maybe food will help, what are you in the mood for?"
"Something easy," you said tiredly, "like porridge or something." He wracked his brain before texting Tucker.
L: I'll pay you $50 if you can make something for Y/n, she has a cold.
T: I'll make it for free, what's she want?
L: Porridge?? She said something light.
T: 👍
That night, you two had laid on the couch and watched the first season of NCIS, the music and chase scenes were loud and he thought they'd bother you but no, ten minutes in and you were out like a light.
He sat up, slowly and carefully picking you up, taking you to your bed and covering you with your blankets. He turned on your fan, pecking your forehead softly, brushing a hand gently through your hair before pulling away to leave, pausing when you mumbled something.
"Huh?"
"Stay...stay here." You said, rolling over right after. He hesitated. You were sick, drugged up on painkillers and sleep medicine, not on your right mind at all. But he sighed. He wasn't going to do anything, obviously, and in the morning, if you yelled at him to leave, he'd do so. But your lips were in a pout, eyes cracked open just enough to look at him with a plea, and he folded.
He slipped off his jeans, staying in his shirt as he slid in next to you, rubbing you back once you curled into him, head tucked under his neck. He inhaled deeply, eyes closing in bliss. You smelled nice, you always did. Warm, some caramel mixed with something tangy, floral.
He felt a small shake on the bed, eyes peeking open to see your cat having jumped up to check on you. He recalled you saying your cat was always in tune when you were sick, had been since you were a kid, and he knew it was true when the cat took its place between your legs, purring loudly enough to where you could feel it. You'd told him how purring had calming effects on both humans and animals, something he had also tucked away for a time just like this.
The next week, when he showed up sick to practice, coach had sent him right on home to yours when you returned the favors and cared for him.
He'd taken that as a sign, a look into the future, that with you in the picture, didn't seem so bleak anymore. He took you to meet Jeff and his girl and after that went swimmingly. you met his dad. It had gone...as well as it could have.
Logan had confided in you that night, begged you to leave him since he could t give you what you wanted, picket fence, a husband that came home to you, maybe a few rugrats running around. He'd always be tied down, and he didn't want that for you, someone who was so passionate, so creative.
But you dug your heels into his grave and planted a garden there, a colorful array of wildflowers. He'd cried that night, right into your neck, and when you held him closer, he'd cried even more.
Logan came to yours a week later, looking...light.
"Good news?" You asked, sitting down on the couch.
"...Yeah. Like- the best news." He'd replied, sitting next to you. "My uh..my dad's going to rehab again, six month program." He swallowed. "And he said I should...he said I should apply to the NHL draft."
"Woah...I think you should," you said, always encouraging.
"I did." He chuckled. "Your uncle had the damn paperwork ready for me to just sign my name."
"So..." You bit your lip, looking up at him, squealing when he pounced on you, cupping your jaw as he kissed your mouth before trailing hot kisses down your neck.
"I'm going to the NHL, and you're coming with me."
"Oh, I am now, am I?" You mused, hands threading through his curls.
"Mhm, never letting you go, ever." He said, tilting your head back and kissing down the valley of your clothed breasts.
"Sounds clingy."
"You love when I'm clingy." He scoffed.
"Mm, true." You hummed, letting him nuzzle your neck once more before he pulled away.
"...I love you." He said, voice firm but quiet. You'd both said it before but this time was softer, intimate, the hopeful promise of a life beyond this.
Your lip quirked upward. "I love you too, Logan."
"If I asked you to marry me, what would you say?" He asked, making you chuckle.
"I'd say where's the damn ring-.." You trailed off when he rummaged in his shirt pocket before producing a small ring, the exact design you had saved on your pinterest board.
"Will-" He fumbled, quickly getting off the couch and onto his knees before realizing his mistake and lifting one knee, holding the ring up.
"Y/n L/n, will you to me the honor of being my wife?" He voice trembled slightly.
You'd blinked twice before rushing him and tackling him to the ground, making him laugh loudly before your lips were on his, his hands in your hair, ring set on the table as you kissed eachother. After pulling away, you murmured against his lips a quiet,
"I'd love to marry you, John Logan."
The ring slipped onto your finger, fitting perfectly. Like a puzzle piece that had been lost for years finally reunited with the original set. Nothing in this world was bleak anymore, because how could it be? How could anything be colorless anymore when you lit everything up with a glance, reviving his heart with a smile. Coloring his life in with your words.

Summary: You are new to Briar U's competetive figure skating team, when John Logan wanted to use the rink to take his mind off things, he runs into you. But it creates more complications than he thought.
All John Logan wanted was a distraction from Hannah. His first thought was the ice. He could skate away all those feelings and brush up on hockey before the season starts. Unfortunately for him, the ice was already taken by you.
The semester had just started, and as a new freshman on Briar’s competitive figure skating team, you wanted a head start so you could secure a spot for singles free skate. You had been working on this routine for a while back home and wanted to test it out on the rink’s ice. Since no one was working at the rink during this time, you didn’t know how to get the music queued up to play in the stadium. So, you opted for your noise-canceling earphones and left your belongings on the hockey bench. You stretched on the bench before taking your skate guards off and gliding on the fresh ice. Your warm-up playlist was heavy EDM and hip hop, and you did a few turns and edge work to make sure you could safely land your jumps. Skating back to the bench, you queued up your routine song, “Beat It” by Michael Jackson. All summer, you watched the new Michael Jackson biopic and couldn’t get the song out of your head. The energy Michael brought to the performance in those old music videos is exactly what you wanted to emulate on the ice.
You started in the center and blocked out your jumps, turns, and some improvised choreography parts. After a few tests, you decided to properly run through the routine. That’s where John Logan first saw you. While Logan had Hannah running on his mind, he glanced up at you. You had black leggings wrapped snugly over your skates, a Briar U-branded Lululemon jacket, and a light blue sweatband. Logan had initially shouted a “Hey!” before realizing you definitely could not hear him. He tried waving his arms in the air and tapping on the glass, but nothing worked. Knowing there was no chance of getting your attention, he walked to the bench to put his gear down, noticing your things neatly placed on it. There was a beaten-up figure skating bag with a light blue “Y/N” engraved on it, along with some clear, glittery skate guards next to it. He also noticed your phone. Being the nosy guy he is, he tapped on it, showing a photo of you from your last high school showcase on the top of the podium, with a bright smile as you won. He looked at what was playing in your headphones and noticed the Michael Jackson song queued up. “I’m in for a show,” he thought and sat awaiting your performance.
Logan watched your little nerves before skating, fiddling with your fingers and pacing in a circle. But as the music started, you were faced away from Logan and too focused on your routine to even notice you were being watched. Logan couldn’t take his eyes off of you, watching every jump, spin, and occasional dance on the ice had him mesmerized. Even though you couldn’t hear it, he clapped after you finished every part. As you were reaching the end of your routine, you attempted to hit your triple lutz, and then you fell a little short, bobbled, and fell. Logan, concerned, immediately got up and skated towards you.
“Hey! Are you ok?”
“What?” You paused your music and saw a tall figure moving towards you.
“I said, are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
Logan offered you a hand, and you grabbed it to help you back up. You noticed him in his hockey uniform and immediately panicked.
“Oh no, do you guys have hockey practice? I’m so sorry I’ll leav-”
“No, no, no, I just came here by myself to skate, but it seems the rink is already taken.”
“Do you want to split the rink? I can just work on jumps and turns and you can practice scoring or whatever drills you have to do.”
“Nah, it looks like you need the whole rink anyway, your routine looked impressive.”
“Thanks, it’s still a work in progress as you just saw.”
The room fell silent, and you realized you were still holding hands. You lightly blushed as you let go, reaching for your hair to fiddle with.
“I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name?”
“John, but everyone calls me Logan.”
“Logan?”
He spun to the back of his shirt as you saw “Logan” across it with big letters.
“Another player on the team is also named John so we just call each other by our last names.”
He spun back around to face you. Even with skates on, he was taller than you. He had messy brown hair that swooped perfectly in front of his face and innocent-looking puppy dog eyes.
“So, you’re not going to ask what my name is?”
“What if I already knew, Y/N?”
You looked at him in confusion, then remembered your old skate bag, which he'd definitely looked at. Hopefully, he didn’t get too close to see all the stains and a stash of granola bars.
“Damn my mother for engraving my bag with my name on it.”
Logan laughed at your sentiment.
“Anyways, I’m going to take a break if you want to use the ice.” You started to skate back towards the bench to grab your water bottle, but Logan followed closely behind you.
“So, you’re new to Briar?”
“Yeah, I just started this fall I’m a freshman.”
“What are you studying?”
“Business Administration and Finance”
“Woah, duel major. I’m also a Business Administration major.”
“Shocker.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I don’t think most hockey players have time to sit in engineering or science labs while also playing a D1 sport.”
“Hey, it’s not impossible, not all hockey guys are dumb meatheads, some of them are pretty smart.”
“Emphasis on some.”
You two continued talking until Logan started to get a call. He picked up, and you heard a man’s voice asking where he was as they were waiting for him to get home, and something about “Drunk Shakespeare,” whatever that means. He hung up, saying he’ll be home soon.
“Sorry about that, my roommates just got back from a theatre thing and need help at home.”
“No worries, it’s getting late anyways I should head back to the dorms.”
“Do you need a ride? I can drive you back, and it’s dark out, it's not safe.”
“Sure.”
“Cool, just meet me right outside of the men’s locker room. I’m going to get changed out of my gear.”
Logan got up from the bench and walked to the locker room. You were busy getting your skates off and lost him on where he went. You wandered the arena, finding school newspapers highlighting the hockey team, one of which mentioned Logan as the lead scorer for the Briar U Hawks. You eventually see Logan walk out, wandering, looking for you, showing a small smile when you make eye contact with him.
“There you are, you ready to go?”
You nodded, putting the newspaper back, and walked outside towards his truck. He kindly grabbed your bag and threw it in the back with his stuff. He also opened and closed the door for you. You drove mostly in silence, and the song “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” came on. You said you loved this song because it reminded you of the beginning of 27 Dresses, your favorite rom-com.
“27 Dresses? I’ve never seen it.”
“What?!” You stare at him, gobsmacked.
“Logan, you have to watch it one day. It has everything. Weddings, sister drama, unrequited love, its a classic.”
“Maybe I will.”
He pulled up to your freshman dorm, let you out, and handed you your things.
“Hey, sorry if this is weird but could I get your number?”
You stared at him, confused.
“Just so our rink time doesn’t overlap, unless you want it to.”
You blushed and were flustered, but you gave in and punched in your number into his phone. He texted you to verify you had his number. He was waiting in his car until you scanned your ID into your dorm hall and closed the door. Then you saw him drive off, knowing you were safely back in your dorm. You eventually got back to your room, and your roommate, Olivia, was sitting at her desk doing work.
You and Olivia met at orientation, and instantly hit it off. Olivia was a psychology major and a party girl. She was a lacrosse player, so her season wasn’t until spring, meaning she had plenty of free time. Most days, she’s out of the room or finishing work up until the weekend so she can party guilt-free. Perks of being a psychology major, I guess. You didn’t party much. You wanted to ensure you could keep up your grades while still focused on skating, whether it was living in Excel sheets or writing about business case studies.
“Hey, look who’s back. You were at the rink for a while. Did the routine work out?”
“Kinda, I ran into a hockey player, he was very nice.”
Olivia immediately turned around with stars in her eyes. “No way. Who?”
“His name was John? But he goes by Logan. He dropped me off just now.”
Olivia’s face was frozen. You looked at her, unsure whether something you said had worried her.
“No way. You met. The John Logan??”
“Yeah, why is he a total jerk or something?”
“No, he’s like one of the biggest hockey stars on campus. Not to mention he’s hot as hell. Rumors have it he’s amazing in bed.”
“Gross, I did not need to know that.”
Unfortunately, Olivia was right about the hot part.
“So? What happened tell me all the details?”
“Nothing, we just chatted, he drove me home, and gave me his number.”
“You have his number?! Do you know how many girls would wrestle you to get that?”
I rolled my eyes at Olivia.
"It’s not that big of a deal. He’s just a guy."
“A guy who is totally into you. Wait, you should ask him if we could come to the hockey party on Saturday!”
“There’s no way I’m going to a party, my season is almost starting, and I really want to get a spot for a free skate program this year.”
“You got that in the bag when you got in here babe, not everyone is a junior and senior back to back skate champion. The party is also to kick off the hockey season, just one party, please.”
At this point, Olivia is holding onto my arm. I tell her a maybe, but no promises, I just met the poor man. She cheers giddily. In my bed, I open my laptop and search for “John Logan.” I watch a few hockey clips, huh, he is pretty good.
“And he looks good doing it!” Olivia says over her laptop.
You couldn’t help but be nosy about the numbers. The business and finance side of you looked at his statistics, and they were pretty good for hockey standards. He could probably be drafted into the NHL when he graduates. Your family is from Detroit, so naturally, they were all Detroit Red Wing fans. Your dad made you memorize players and stats so you knew who to look out for and who the star players are on other teams. But school has been eating up your time, so you barely paid attention to any of Briar U's players. You just knew that one player, Garrett Graham, was drafted for the Bruins, since it was plastered all over the hockey team’s page. Whatever, John Logan probably has millions of girls ogling over him anyway. What’s a freshman like you going to do?
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
John Logan couldn’t stop thinking about you. When he reached the hockey house, he got out of his car and walked in. He saw Tucker and Dean in the kitchen making drunk grilled cheeses, and a watermelon was peacefully sitting next to Tucker. John put his hockey bag down and joined them in the kitchen.
“Heyyy, where’d you go, pretty boy, the rink?” Dean inquired.
“Yeah I went to skate for a bit, how was Drunk Shakespeare?”
“Those theatre kids can really drink, I mean, we could barely keep up,” Tucker giggled, almost missing the plate for his grilled cheese. “You want one, Logan?”
“Nah, I’m good, hey, do you guys know anyone on the figure skating team?”
Tucker and Logan immediately looked towards Dean.
“Hey now, just because I’ve been with a lot of women does not mean I know everyone.”
Logan stared at Dean with raised eyebrows.
“Ok, maybe I slept with one of the team captains. Why are you asking lover boy?”
“I just ran into one at the rink, Y/N, she was really nice.”
“Oh god, I’ve heard her name before. Erin, the captain, complained about her. Said she was going to skate circles around her, and she might make captain as a freshman. The girl’s wicked good.”
Logan proceeded to look your name up and found a YouTube video of your Senior Skate Champion routine. You skated to Afterglow by Taylor Swift. Logan recognized the costume from your lockscreen. You looked flawless.
“Holy shit.”
“Told you she was good, no wonder Erin needed the worries fucked out of her,” Dean smirked.
“Alright, Dean, calm down, sweet Tucker is right there.”
Tucker was happily eating his grilled cheese, not really paying attention to the conversation, focused on protecting his watermelon away from Dean. Logan couldn’t keep his eyes off you. He eventually excused himself and brought his hockey bag up to his room. He took a quick shower before lying in bed, looking up every single one of your performances. He felt like a stalker, but he was mesmerized by every routine you did. While stalking, he found your Instagram and debated whether to send a follow request. He figured it was too soon and probably would come off as creepy, so he laid off that idea for now. Logan then suddenly realized he wasn’t thinking of Hannah anymore, so talking to you could be the solution. For once, Logan went to sleep with a clearer mind, no longer worried about hearing Garrett and Hannah or running into her in the house.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
The next morning, Logan gets a text from Tucker.
Tucker: Hey, I accidentally double-booked myself, and I’m going to miss my financial accounting class. Could you just write down my name for attendance at the end of class? It’s worth 20% of my grade 🥺
Logan replied that he’d go. He’d already taken the class and was free, so it wasn't like he needed to pay attention. He brought his laptop to do other work instead. Little did he know he had already forgotten who he’d run into.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
You had just woken up, noticing your laptop tab was still open on John Logan's hockey highlights. You closed the tab and realized you needed to be in your financial accounting class in 10 minutes. Luckily, Olivia was already out of the dorm, having classes all day. You rushed to get ready, grabbed your bag, and sped down the dorm hall to your class. Conveniently, the freshman dorms were closest to campus, so you were only about a 5-minute walk from class. You had gotten there just in time, and the teaching assistant announced that the professor was running late, so class would start in 10 minutes. Great, you rushed over to class for nothing. So you opened your laptop to catch up on the material the professor would cover in class and to organize your notes. Then you heard the door open, and the girls started chattering and whispering to each other a lot. You assumed the professor was here, so you looked up, but saw no one. Then a familiar figure walked towards you in your row.
“Hey,” Logan said and sat down next to you.
“What are you doing in a freshman accounting class?”
“One of my roommates can’t make it and wanted me to get his attendance points for him.”
“How kind of you.”
You watched as other girls in your class stared at Logan and tried to wave to get his attention. He would wave back occasionally, but would keep his eyes on you.
“So, you don’t sit with any of your friends?”
“I like to sit alone so I can focus during class.”
“So studious of you, and what happens if someone does distract you?”
“I ignore them.”
“Harsh, do you ever do anything else besides school and skate?”
“Unless I went to an easier school that wasn’t an Ivy League, maybe I’d have time for parties and attending classes for my friends.”
Amidst your banter with Logan, the professor walked in, and the room fell silent as everyone was preparing for class. The professor mentioned that your first exam is coming up next week and that last year’s class had an average grade of 65, so he hopes your class will do better this time around. Logan chuckled at the statement, causing you to shoot daggers into his eyes.
“What? Don’t look at me like that I got a 90 on that exam.” Logan whispered
“Bullshit,” You whispered back.
Logan got really close to your ear, causing you to get goosebumps.
“If you don’t believe me, sweetheart, why don’t I show you?”
You felt your ears turn red as Logan pulled up his report card from freshman year, showing that he got an A in this class as well, and made the Dean’s Honor List for that semester.
“Fine, I’ll give you that one.”
Logan smiled with satisfaction.
“But…can’t say your freshman year hockey performance was any good,” You fired back.
“Excuse me?” Logan looked offended that you even questioned his hockey skills.
“You had 5 goals and 8 assists that whole season.”
“I barely played, I was a freshman.”
“That wasn’t an excuse for Garrett Graham. He had over 10 in both goals and assists.”
Logan clenched his jaw in jealousy. He was about to speak when your professor asked people to quiet down for the side conversations.
“We're not done with this conversation,” Logan quickly added before going back to his laptop to do other work.
In the silence of the class, all you can hear is Logan's phone buzzing repeatedly. You nudged him, thinking he was getting a call. But he flipped his phone over to show that it was filled with hundreds of Snapchat messages from girls. No shocker there. He whispered a “Sorry” and put his phone on Do Not Disturb. The rest of class went without Logan bothering, with only an occasional text asking you when you plan to skate at the rink again or commenting on the people watching he was doing. For example, someone in front of you was playing Minecraft, building some crazy structure.
When class ended, some girls rushed to Logan, forming a blockade in your row. All of them were talking to him about hockey and, more importantly, the party on Saturday. They were blocking your exit, and you were planning to go to the library to meet Olivia to do some work. You tried to cough or say excuse me, but they wouldn't budge.
“Can you guys finish this meet and greet later? I gotta get to the library.”
You saw all the girls glare and roll their eyes at you as they refocused their attention back to Logan.
“I'm very sorry ladies, we have to head to the library for a study group.”
Logan then escorted you away from the crowd, both of you signed the attendance sheet, and you walked outside the building.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
“Didn't take you for the jealous type,” Logan chirped.
“I just wanted to get to the library, I have a lot of work and studying to do.”
Once you are outside of the building, you see a tall hockey guy with curly hair and a brunette girl with bright blue eyes next to him. You see him wave to Logan as Logan waved back at him. You knew that was Garrett Graham and Hannah Wells. Olivia religiously followed Fifth Line and made you look through the account once you mentioned you ran into John Logan. As they got closer, you noticed Logan freeze up. You could poke him, and he still wouldn’t budge.
“Hey Logan, who’s this?” Garrett asked.
“Uh, this is Y/N, she’s on the figure skating team.”
“I’m Hannah and I love your top! Where’s it from?” Hannah asked.
“It’s from Aerie, it’s my favorite color light blue.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Garrett. Hannah and I are heading back to the house. Do you guys need a ride?” Garrett asked Logan
You watched as Hannah and Garrett looked at Logan for an answer, but you could see the look on his face. He was staring at Hannah and smiling the whole time. You swore you saw a little blush form on his cheeks.
“Oh, sorry, I remembered I had to text Tucker about something, what did you say?”
“Do you need a ride back to the house?” Hannah inquired.
Logan looked at you, then back at Hannah. “Actually, I was going to go with Y/N to the library to do work.”
“Work? Since when do you-” Garrett spoke before Logan cut him off.
“We happen to have a very important group project for…economics.”
“I thought you already took econ-” Garrett said, trying to interject.
“She needs my help with the homework, right? Y/N?”
Not wanting to watch Logan dig himself into a deeper hole, you went along with it.
“Uh, yeah, he’s going to teach me about game theory, really exciting stuff.”
“Alright, then I’ll see you at the house, buddy,” Garrett replied before walking away.
“Bye, Logan! Bye Y/N, it was nice to meet you!” Hannah said, and you can see Logan’s eyes light up.
You didn’t know what was going on, but for some reason, your throat dried a little. Was I feeling jealous? Over a guy I just met? I really need to talk to more guys. Logan refocused his attention on you once they were far enough away.
“Sorry about them, Garrett’s one of my roommates and that’s his tutor, Hannah.”
“What’s Garrett getting tutored in?”
“Some philosophy class. Anyways, you don’t mind if I crash your study session, unless it's a study date?”
“In your dreams, I’m meeting my roommate there and I need to study for this exam.”
“Why don’t I help you? Give you some old exams and help answer questions?”
“Don’t you have your own work to do?”
“How about this. I will help you tutor in exchange for a library cafe coffee and a ham and swiss croissant.”
“No.”
“Oh, c’mon, do you think your roommate is going to be annoyed if I’m there?”
“If you’re being as annoying as you are now, probably.”
“Probably isn’t a no, plus I have about 3 hours until practice anyway. Please?”
Logan steps in front of you and pouts with his huge puppy dog eyes. He looks like a giant golden retriever who’s begging to spend time with you. While you are stunned looking at him, he lowers his head to your height and whispers in your ear.
“You know, if you want a different form of payment, that can also be arranged.”
Your ears begin to feel hot again, and you are flustered as he narrows his face really close to yours. You look away from him and respond.
“Fine, you can come.”
You look back at him and see the biggest smile form across his face. You’ve never seen him this happy, of course, besides 5 minutes ago when he was looking at Hannah.
“But, I’m buying you a coffee and croissant, don’t get too excited.”
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
You text Olivia to ask where she is in the library, and you follow the directions to find her in a private study room with a table, four chairs, and a whiteboard. You knock on the door and let yourself in with Logan following behind you.
“What’s up, y/-” Olivia stopped in her tracks, realizing Logan was behind you happily munching on his croissant, which you just bought him.
“Olivia, this is John Logan, but he goes by Logan. Logan, this is Olivia, my roommate.”
“Nice to meet you Olivia.” Logan reached out his hand.
“Likewise,” Olivia replied, still a little too stunned, realizing that John Logan was in front of her right now.
“So, Y/N what are you studying for?” Olivia looked back at you in anticipation.
“Financial accounting, I have an exam next week. Logan’s here to help me because he got an A in this class.”
“Uh-huh,” Olivia spoke with a hint of doubt, suggesting that she thinks that’s definitely not the only reason Logan is here right now, but is going along with it.
You bring out your full studying ecosystem, the hardcover textbook, iPad, and laptop, along with your color-coded tabs and highlighters. Logan looked at you like he’s been studying wrong his whole life. Now this was how you study. Logan went through his fraternity’s drive to find old exams, printed them, and stapled them all. He timed you and watched you as you scribbled and erased through every exam. At the end, he would look at the answer key and grade them for you.
The first one, you didn’t do that badly, and you got an 80 on it, but you really wanted an A on this exam. Logan moved closer to you, so your shoulders touched, and he helped you figure out where you went wrong and where you mixed up a concept. He felt warm, and you can now smell his cologne: sandalwood, leather, and light musk. He smelled damn good. He gave you another back exam, and it was actually the one Logan took his year. You tried your best with everything Logan had taught you and handed it back to him for grading. You were second-guessing yourself as he graded it, thinking you'd messed up some math or that your rounding was off. When Logan was done, he made a face, which worried you even more.
“God, I did worse didn’t I?”
You started to sink into your chair.
“I’ve never seen a score like this before.”
“Just tell me!”
Logan then flipped the test around to a perfect 100. You cheered and brought him in for a hug. You and Logan were so busy jumping and celebrating that you didn’t realize his arms were resting around your waist. You both let go and sat back in your seats. You can see Olivia peaking with a giant grin across her face before hiding back into her work.
“Thanks for the help, Logan.”
“Anytime sweetheart, you’re going to kill it.”
Logan looked at the time and realized he needed to head home to grab his gear and get to practice.
“Oh shoot, I gotta go, just remember what I taught you and you can keep all of the back exams. Text me if any questions come up.”
Logan packs up his stuff, waves goodbye to you and Olivia, and closes the door of the study room.
Olivia takes her headphones off and stares at you like it's an interrogation.
“Well, well, well.”
“Don’t start.”
“You know for a hockey player, he’s pretty smart.”
“Yeah. He is.”
“And he knows how to flirt.”
“He was not flirting! He was helping me.”
“The way you were hugging each other, you’d think you two won a bidding war for a house.”
“Oh shut up.”
You hide your embarrassed face behind your work, looking down at the exams Logan graded for you, and seeing that 100 in red ink feels really good. But you were overthinking his interaction with Hannah. Was something going on? Is there something you missed between them?
“Hey Olivia?”
“What’s up?”
“What do you know about Hannah Wells? I know she’s been on some of the Fifth Line posts, and Logan mentioned she was tutoring Garrett.”
“Well, according to Fifth Line, she was at the hockey house helping Garrett tutor. they went up to his bedroom and…well you should know the rest. Why did she say something to you?”
“No, she was very sweet, Logan just seemed a little awkward with her I don’t know. You’d think they were exes or something.”
“Oh? You’re getting jealous of Logan now?”
“What? No. I just want to know if he’s ok and stuff.”
“Ok and stuff? Babe, just don’t worry about him ok? He’s a big boy and can handle himself.”
“I guess.”
You still pandered on the way he looked at Hannah. It was similar to when Olivia found out you met John Logan. It made you question why he’d waste time with a freshman who can’t even do basic accounting. But were you developing feelings for him? No. You barely know him. But the way he’d send flirty remarks would make you buckle your knees. Was he interested in me? Or does he just flirt like that with all the other girls? I mean, you saw his phone. He’s got lines of girls waiting for the chance to sleep with him. After going in circles about this for 5 minutes, you get a text from your figure skating group chat. It's from Erin.
Hey girlies! I just wanted to let you all know that the men’s hockey team invited us to a joint figure skating and ice hockey season kick-off party on Saturday. The theme is fire and ice, so wear red and black or blue and white. Like this message if you are interested in coming! New girls on the team are welcome to come too!
You stared at that message in panic, and Olivia immediately noticed your face.
“Hey, what’s going on?”
“The team just got invited to the hockey party on Saturday.”
“Are you going to go?”
“I don’t know.”
“You should! Not only could you spend time with Logan, but you could also meet some other guys there too. I’d be fun to go to a college party before your season starts.”
“I guess, but I have nothing to wear.”
“Girl, do you know who you’re talking to? I give you permission to raid my party clothes drawer, if you secure me an invite, deal?”
You giggle at Olivia and agree by liking Erin's message. This will be a fun weekend, I guess.

At practice, Logan felt like he was on cloud nine, playing well and reminiscing about the time he had with you at the library. He noticed how you’d bite your lip or fidget with your pencil when you were thinking. When you guys were close together, he still remembers you smelled like sweet strawberries and jasmine. He looked at you with the sunlight glimmering in your hair and glowing off your skin. If he could, he would take a picture of this moment.
“What’s got you in a good mood, Logan?” Tucker asked when they were sitting on the bench.
“Nothing, just woke up on the right side of the bed today.”
“Is it cause of Y/N?” Garrett chimed in as he came off the ice.
“Y/N? The figure skating girl? What happened now?” Tucker replied.
“Logan went to help her with economics today,” Garrett said, looking at Logan, who refused to make eye contact with him.
“Logan has a soft spot for the skater girl, I see,” Tucker replied, nudging him on the bench.
“What is this about skater girls?” Dean jumped into the conversation as he got off the ice, and Tucker was called to go out.
“Logan’s talking to Y/N, who’s on the figure skating team.” Garrett catches Dean up to speed on the conversation.
“Oh, that’s perfect, cause I just invited the women’s figure skating team to our party on Saturday, time to make your move, Logan,” Dean smirked.
“I never said I was making any moves on anyone.” Logan bitterly spat back.
“Ok, sensitive, you don’t have to make a move on anyone if you’re not comfortable,” Dean replied in a baby voice, pinching at Logan’s cheeks.
“Hey, do you guys mind if Wellsy comes?” Garrett added while changing the conversation.
“Yeah, why not? She’s been helping you keep your grades up. She deserves a party for that alone.” Dean replied, which made Logan's stomach turn. Even the thought of seeing Hannah in party clothes turned him on. But quickly, those feelings turned to guilt as he was unsure of Garrett’s feelings for Hannah and his own for you. Garrett’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
“And uh, you guys invited your frat, right?” Garrett inquires of Dean.
“Yup, Beau texted me a list of who’s coming, you can take a look after practice.”
Dean and Logan were then called onto the ice. Logan began to overthink about you and Hannah being in the same place at a party. He missed some passes and missed an open shot. Tucker chirped at Logan on the ice, “Man, what happened to you playing good? Focus!” That was a blow to Logan’s brain, so much for getting over Hannah.

In the locker room, the conversation only got worse.
“So, Logan, are you going as fire or ice?” Tucker was innocently asking.
“I’m not sure yet.” Logan just wanted to pack up and leave before he had to think about you and Hannah again.
“Maybe you should text Y/N what she’s going as, you know what they say, opposites attract,” Dean added while getting dressed.
“G, what are you and Hannah going as?” Logan said, trying to change the subject.
“I’m probably going as ice, since you know, we’re hockey players and all. Hannah mentioned she found a red top, so I’m assuming she’s fire.”
Logan, remembering your favorite color was light blue, you definitely were coming as ice. But should he match or should he change it up and match with Hannah? Or would that be crossing a line with Garrett? It was too much to think about all at once. Garrett offered to drive Logan back while Dean and Tucker went out to get snacks and drinks for the party. This was Logan’s chance to gauge Garrett and Hannah’s relationship.
“So, you and Wellsy? Are you guys dating?”
“Yeah, you could say that. We’ve been spending a lot of time together.”
“So you like her then?”
Garrett went silent.
“Yeah, I do. Why is there something I should know?”
“Nah, I just didn’t know how you felt about her. Wasn’t sure if it was just tutoring or something else.”
“It started as tutoring, and then we started to date, what’s there not to get?”
“I thought you didn’t do girlfriends, remember Kendall?”
“Kendall and I talked things out, we’re cool now. Why do you care anyway?”
“I just wanted to get some advice for Y/N I guess.” Logan lied through his teeth.
“Oh, well, just get to know her, dude. I’m sure if it works out it will and if it doesn’t, then you move on to the next chick. I mean, I would’ve never met Hannah if I didn’t break things off with Kendall.”
Well fuck, Logan thought, I’m the asshole who likes his best friend's girlfriend. But maybe Y/N would be a good distraction for the party. So, Logan decided to text you.
Logan: Hey, are you coming to the party on Saturday?
Y/N: Yeah! I’m going. A bunch of girls on my team were invited.
Logan: Cool, what are you going to go as?
Y/N: I have a lot of blue options, so I’m probably going to go as ice. What about you?
Logan: Not sure yet, guess you’ll have to come to find out 😉
Y/N: 🙄
Y/N: Do you mind if Olivia comes too? She’s been wanting to come to a hockey party.
Logan: Sure, more the merrier.
He hated how easy it was to talk to you. Other girls, his flirting would make them swoon. But with you, he’d always be met with sarcasm or an unimpressed reply. He liked that and found it a challenge, something to work for.
“Is Y/N coming?” Garrett asked while looking at Logan’s phone
“Yeah, she’s going to be with her team.”
“Nice, you can have some time to talk rather than studying in a library.”
“Yeah, I guess.”

When Logan got home, he went straight to his room to process his thoughts. He wasn’t sure if he actually liked you or if you were just a distraction away from Hannah. To answer his spiraling, he saw a follow request on Instagram, it was from you. A few minutes later, you accepted his request, and Logan immediately went digging. Your feed was nothing surprising, mostly figure skating and occasional photo dumps of you and your friends having fun. Logan’s, in comparison, gave you almost nothing. Just one picture of him from hockey. You did dig through the comments to find girls commenting on how hot he looked. Even his tagged photos did not show much, only finding group hockey photos or ones from his roommate’s feed. You did find one photo of him and Hannah together, but in a group photo. Still, it made your heart drop a little.
Little did you both know that you were trying to figure each other out before the party. What was their type? Have they been in relationships before? Why can’t I stop scrolling through their feed?
As both you and Logan stared at your ceilings, conflicted about what to do. The party is in 2 days, and what signals did you both want to give off? Logan didn’t know whether to distract himself with you or try to talk to Hannah. He didn’t want to hurt you, but also didn’t know how it wouldn’t hurt him to see Hannah all over Garrett. You thought about giving Logan space and avoiding him, but you can’t help but always look for him in a room. Logan can easily get other girls, but you? You were unsure if you even had the ability to flirt with other guys.
Only time will tell what they’ll choose to do.
