He hated being outside, truly he did. The sun that once felt so wonderful on his face stung his eyes, the scent of the sea that once captivated him made him want to hurl, and the people bustling around the docks simply annoyed him. They called themselves pirates, but they had never even left this godforsaken Isle. What kind of pirates stay in one place?

Hook eyed up one young woman in particular. She was unusual for these parts, definitely not a sailor. With a certain swagger in his walk and alcohol on his breath, he moved towards her. It was then he realized who exactly she was; and he didn’t like it one bit.

“Excuse me miss, but docks are for pirates and sailors― not pretty little princesses like yourself.”

“My darling you should have SEEN the roses! I had more than I knew what to do with!” They speak reverently, a dreamy look in their eyes as they remember. Not only were they beautiful, but they offered COVER, a secret and quiet place to be with and talk to the one they loved.  Away from prying eyes and listening ears. “I had my landscapers construct the maze while I was away on a diplomatic visit, you know. I spent MONTHS learning it, solving it. How I would love to lead you down those paths, dear. Someday, I swear. I’ll take you back to my home and we can make it beautiful again together.”

"-- so what if my dad is doc hudson? what's he done to you guys?" he furrows his brows as he asks his small group of friends, waiting for someone to answer his question, although, he was curious. his dad wasn't a bad person, he was kindhearted and he was sympathetic. "and no, radiator springs isn't as bad as the media makes it look. i actually like living there."
