making luke skywalker a disillusioned old man who turned his back on the galaxy and worst of all his friends was such a bad take bc yes it could be happen. put that much trauma / burden / loss on a person and realistically they’ll lose their spark. want to run away and give up. but star wars is a story of HOPE. it’s characters are larger than life. luke skywalker’s biggest superpower wasn’t his ability to use the force, it was his heart. he turned away from the jedi code for his friends. he brought his father back to the light with his love. the odds are never in the hero’s favor. they shouldn’t be able to win. the bad guy is stronger, the weight of responsibility is crushing, but the good guy prevails nevertheless. it’s not a character type that is supposed to be edgy or unpredictable or gritty. it’s meant to be a little cheesy and optimistic and hopeful. even when it seems impossible for them to be strong enough, they are. and they took that from us

@stiffyck had me Pondering about Eridian formal wear/jewelry for Grace and now here we are.

in the book it's mentioned that Eridian cloth looks much thicker than Earth cloth does. So i went with stiff and heavy looking fabrics for the overall structure

not much of the cloths are the same color, since Eridians can't perceive it, they don't really mind it if something isn't the same shade.

THE JINGLE JANGLE. I tried to experiment with different items that made clinking sounds, such as coins, glass, chimes, etc. I thought the resonances of each item might be a bit different and interesting!

The overall cuts of the outfit is simple too, since this would essentially be Ryland's early fits after having lived on Erid for a couple months. I can imagine the Eridians are still getting used to human sewing patterns, so in the meantime they made him this so that he could still participate in festivals/holidays/formal occasions.

That is not to say, however, that they aren't able to add their own level of excruciating detail to the finer parts of the outfit.

The chimes/stones are basically different xenonite variations.

Several of my mutuals have been clearing out their drafts today, which has reminded me of the fact that I have exactly one draft saved on tumblr.com, it is from three whole years ago and I no longer remember the context, and it is, most importantly, this:
