Actor and musician David Duchovny called in to talk to the gang about his music, Californication, and the new X-Files mini-series debuting on Sunday, January 24th 2016
Great bit from David’s interview with a Boston radio station, where David takes a question about whether they are like an old married couple to be about him and Gillian not Mulder and Scully!
Listen from 5.11 for this bit:
Interviewer: Texter wants to know if you guys, since you’ve been together for a long time, are you like an old couple who hates each other now?
David Duchovny: (laughs) No, I think we got pass that point, I think there were certainly times when we were shooting, when we were all exhausted, years ago, that we might have wanted to see other people on set beside each other. But now, I think really, it’s like .................. all that’s just evaporated. I think as you get older, I think if you’re lucky, if you’re maturing the stuff that used to bother you, the little things, kinda of evaporate and all that’s left is the heart, and that’s all we have left is just total appreciation of one another. So, I don’t know if that makes us like an old married couple, a sucessful old married couple maybe, I don’t know.
Interviewer: I think they were talking more about the characters Mulder and Scully. Are those two still in love?
David Duchovny: Yeah, well they have to be, the show is really, its a lot about, you know obviously it’s about what it’s about, science fiction or whatever it is, the conspiracy and quest and all of that. But it’s also about Mulder and Scully and their, I guess their love is based originally on a friendship and a respect, so I think people romanticise it for good reasons.
