2018 feeling like my old self again
Well here we go 2018, so full of inspiration and promise.
Last year,
was a year of many changes. We started 2017 pregnant and preparing for baby to come. I bought my first house (yes, I say “first” because it will not be my last) which we then spent weeks working on to get it ready to move in. Paul (my now fiancé ) did a really good job at making our pups comfortable before the move by building them a nice, clean area to play in while NOT destroying the house.
Then,
we welcomed baby Lylah into the world in July. I knew I would love her but I definitely was not expecting the kind of unconditional love that simply filled my heart when I first laid eyes on her.
Well, needless to say I definitely did not feel like myself after delivery. Not only was I in the midst of recovering physically, I was also adjusting to a new crazy, busy, unpredictable schedule. I am very fortunate that all of our family lives in Houston and are very very helpful because I don’t know what I would do without them. I was able to get right back to business as soon as we was discharged from the Hospital with the help of my wonderful mom who came to my house for two weeks to help me with Laylah while I worked. Then, Lylah and I went back to the office after 3 weeks. It has been a blur since. The days are definitely long but the time flies by.
Now,
January 14th, 2018 Lylah is six months and 13 days old. Today was the first day that I finally felt on top of my plans. I was able to make it to the gym for a great morning work out with the help of the very convenient Kid’s Club. I felt amazing during my Cycling class. Cycling not Spin class, which I still do not understand the difference between the two. I felt amazing during the class is all I will say because the frantic, anxiety filled morning trying to rush out of the door with baby was not as fun (and yes, I was the late one that everyone rolls their eyes at). After the gym Lylah and I hurried over to Church where we made it just before the announcements started (again, late). I am very thankful that Lylah enjoys meeting new pretty ladies which makes it a lot easier when dropping her off in the baby areas. A big THANK YOU by the way to all you pretty ladies who work in the nurseries, day cares, and kid clubs. Then we were free to go to shop for groceries, but, before that we needed our quick protein. Baby had her bottle in the car and I drank a quick protein shake, lunch was served. Finally, after an hour and a half of grocery shopping we were on our way back home.
Now I am sitting on my sofa next to Lylah who is napping and I am remembering a day circa 2016 which was the last time I had structured plans on a Sunday to workout, go to church, buy my groceries, meal prep and then lounge in front of the TV to rest up for Monday. Today felt very very close to that but just A LOT more tiring and of course while running late. I have now come to realize that I might be running late very often for the next 20 years or so. Nevertheless, even with all of the madness, I feel accomplished and very much like a bad mama jamma! Here is to another great, adventurous, year!
