We've been under a blizzard warning since Friday. So far I am underwhelmed. No snow.

Babies and Baby Gays
Maggie cursed as she ducked into the entryway of a department store, cradling her toddler to her chest, cringing as another earsplitting screech hit the air. Of all the days an alien had to go and have a tantrum, it had to be the day she went shopping with Jamie. Of. Fucking. Course.
Rubble hit the archway she was hiding in as another screech and a few bangs were heard, Maggie flinching hard as she curled herself further around Jamie and turned her back to the rubble, taking a few chunks for her child. Thankfully, the bangs seemed to have been high powered tranquilizer guns as she heard a thundering crash and weak warble.
Risking a glance outside, she let out a heavy, shaky sigh of relief. Men and women in black were swarming the alien and dragging it into a containment truck with the help of Supergirl as other black clad people began checking on citizens caught in the crossfire.
“Dios mio...what a day.”
Camouflage and Combat Boots
Callie was standing in the airport, all dressed in her fatigues and her hair tied neatly back. She turned around and faced her wife. She took a tanned hand and she stroked the blonde’s pale cheek. She couldn’t imagine being away from this woman for over a year. From their growing family. “Alright.” She sighed, not knowing what to say in this moment. She stepped in and kissed Arizona softly. “I love you. And I will come back home, safe and sound.” The Latina put a hand to her wife’s stomach and smiled. “And you...” She bent down on her knees. “You be careful with your Momma. Take good care of her while I’m away.” A light kiss was pressed to that spot and she stood back up to her full height.

The bombs had been silenced, the war was over and France had been free for almost a year. Ava stood under Le Tour D'Eiffle wearing a royal blue dress and a black overcoat, a hat jauntily placed on her head. Glancing at her watch, she started to pace nervously. Maybe something had happened to Amaya that she didn't know about. Maybe she had decided not to come...

Amaya almost couldn’t believe the war was finally over. After years of treating injuries, hearing the worst of the war over the radio and in the distance outside of their medical tent, it was finally done. And she, was headed on her way to a date with one of the soldiers-former now, she supposed. She was in a simple light blue dress under a white coat, her hair loose around her shoulders instead of up in its usual bun. She smiled when she saw Ava and walked over. “Hi!”

It had been a rough couple months after the Daxamite invasion, Susan knew, and calling it just ‘rough’ was understating it by a lot. Hell, it had been a rough couple months for Susan herself, having been very nearly killed, and in and out of surgery and the hospital for quite some time. Getting blasted in the abdomen with an alien weapon and very nearly bleeding out on the floor of the very place she usually worked hard to keep people from dying tends to add to hospital time.
Which is how she found herself back in her DEO tacticals and riding the elevator back up to the command center weeks before she was even cleared for light duty. But she’d managed to walk around the previous week without aid, and mostly upright to boot. So she’d given herself the proverbial stamp of approval and let herself back into the building, armed with her weapon and a cargo pocket of her pill bottles. The boredom alone would have driven her twelve different kinds of insane.
So as the elevator opened, she stepped forward boldly, releasing a soft hiss as the injury on her abdomen pulled painfully, hand rising to hover over it as she closed her eyes to press the pain down. She supposed its what she got for skipping her pain medication that morning with her intent to go to work; opioids and firearms did not mix.
As she swept her eyes over the control room, she strode over to her usual space, nodding to the other agents in response to their greetings as she settled a headset in her ear, steadfastly ignoring the urge to turn and look at the place she’d been blasted, the path she dragged herself, and the place she’d ended up laying in the assumption of what was soon to be her death. As she stood, reading the screen arrayed before herself, she recognized some voices behind her, on of which said her name in the serious amount of disapproval.
Turning slowly, she folded her arms behind her back and looked between J’onn and Alex with her usual even expression. “Sir, ma’am,” she said in greeting, eyes lingering on Alex for a beat longer than appropriate before meeting J’onn’s eyes boldly, the resignation on his face telling her that he saw her utter stubbornness in her mind before walking away with a shake of his head. Even Susan couldn’t suppress the small smirk in response, as her eyes cut back to Alex expectantly.

Maggie turned her body and took a step back. In her line of work, she knew how to defend herself. “And this surprises you?” She muttered under her breath and looked at Alex. “I just hope that it’s a regular run of the mill criminal.”
Alex had to smirk lightly at Maggie’s hope. In her line of work with aliens, it was never just a run of the mill criminal; that would be too easy. “Not surprised, however, I don’t think one night without this city almost crumbling is too much to ask for.” Before she started dating Maggie, Alex would’ve been happy to be chasing criminals all night. Now though, she just wanted one night to stay in bed curled up with her girlfriend.

Maggie snarled as she stormed to her bike, backpack haphazardly slung over her shoulders. The first day of school had become something to loathe over the years. First with when she first moved in with her Aunt while still in that god forsaken town in Nebraska, and coming back to school after spring break to find that everyone knew she was gay and had been kicked out. Then had come the first move, due to the bullying she’d experienced at school. She’d tried to look forward to it, but the new kid thing had been hard...and then someone had overheard why she was there and it had all gone downhill from there. From there it had been move after move, mostly due to her Aunt’s new job to be able to support them both, and a new school every year, sometimes two or three schools in a year if it was bad. Hopefully this would be her last school change before college, or she just might snap.
Once on the road, it was a short drive to the new school and Maggie made the most of it by stewing in her anger and frustration. By the time she’d arrived she was in no mood to try and slip under the radar, just roaring into the parking lot on her bike and doing a skid stop into one of the available curb parking spots, kicking her stand down as she turned the beloved old Triumph off. All in all, she made one hell of an intimidating first impression in her ripped skinny jeans, leather jacket, blacked out bike helmet, and near knee high Doc Martens. Slipping the helmet off, Maggie shook out her hair and eyed the campus of gawking students, lip curling slightly in disgust. This was not going to be a good day.
