UGH Janus is quite possibly one of the most compelling and interesting characters I've ever met. A man of many faces. his existence and everything about him is dual and two-faced.
one of his roles as deceit/denial means that he has to repress sides that Thomas doesn't want to know about, but he was ALSO a side Thomas didn't want to know about, forcing him into the role of both jailer and prisoner.
Another important role- basically THE main role he represents is selfishness. He will save himself at the cost of everything else. He will always put on his own oxygen mask first. He only cares about following the rules if they serve to benefit him in some way.
But he's not just Janus, he's a part of Thomas. He's Thomas's selfishness. Janus doesn't just care to protect himself, he cares about protecting Thomas, possibly above all else. Janus would let the whole world burn if it meant protecting Thomas.
And because the other sides are also a part of Thomas, Janus cares about them too. He's friends with Remus. He still clearly misses Virgil. He defends Patton in SvS redux, reminding Thomas that Patton isn't a bad guy even though he could've taken the opportunity to screw Patton over and become the voice of reason instead.
Janus, representing selfishness, ends up being the most selfless side instead.
I wish we could create more than one banner for the legends and have the ability to randomize them bc I got some really good setups for Revenant 😭😭
