Aladdin isn’t an orphan in the traditional sense. He had been abandoned at an early age and left to live on the streets of Las Vegas for most of his life. Living on the streets isn’t easy for an adult and it’s even harder for a child needing the basic love and care of parents. Regardless of how he suffered though, he always made it his business to look out for other kids with even less than him. He went many nights hungry because he had given his food to younger kids and after awhile he began to feel resentful of the wealthy people who walked the strip. It disgusted him that they could walk right by the younger kids. He could understand them walking past him, his own parents didn’t want him but the other kids were so good…it was just wrong.

When he was accepted to Ilvermorney, he didn’t believe it at first. He thought it was some sick joke, at least until the headmaster Cato Pillar showed up and made him believe. He was brought up to the school and it was the longest trip he had ever been on. The biggest shock at the school had been the way they had him living. It was the kind of luxury he had only dreamed of, sleeping in a bed and taking regular showers. He almost didn’t want to go back home at the end of the year but he knew he had to, he had to use what he had learned to help the kids on the street.

Aladdin got really good at stealing, never too much and just what he and the kids needed. He started stealing from the Casinos, the Sultan Casino in particular. He’s been using the funds to pay for a home for the street kids, to feed them and get them school supplies. Unfortunately for him, the good folks at the Sultan casinos are getting wise to his schemes. How long will it be until he gets found out?

Jasmine Sultan: The daughter of the man he’s robbing. He has to keep this a secret from her because he honestly does like her and doesn’t want her to hate him for what he’s doing.

Johnny Jalaal: His best friend and mentor of sorts at school. He’s continually impressed by Johnny’s phenomenal cosmic power but worries he’ll be taken advantage of.

Jafar Vizier: A man who is set to become one of the CEOs of Sultan Casinos. Jafar always had problems with Aladdin and is very suspicious that he is the cause of the Casino money loss.

Johnny was born in incredibly mundane circumstances. He grew up in a normal town in Nevada, was popular amongst his peers at no-maj school and found math and Geography difficult and annoying. Things began to get weird when he got his letter to Ilvermorny and learned he was a wizard and even weirder when he learned of his so called “phenomenal csmic power,” which was so great that the magical governement sealed it away when he was a baby. Something about this act always left a bad taste in his mouth, in that it was done without his consent. He was told it was for his own good, that he could bend and warp time and space itself and that there were few, if any, who could stand up to his power. He always understood the risk intellectually but the secrecy about it hurt him.

After a few years at Ilvermorny, some very unsavoury characters heard about the kinds of things he could potentially do. When he returned home that summer, he found his parents tied up and a gang of villains waiting for him. Johnny was scared and angry and his magic seeped through the shackles on his power. He wanted to save his family but ended up destroying their house instead. His outburst was used against him and the gang placed a new spell on him, one that kept him in their thrall.

Unfortunately for the gang, the spell the ministry placed still remained true and they were unable to use his power for their own ends. Every summer they would torture him mentally and physically in an attempt to get another outburst but after what happened last time he was determined to keep his power under wraps. At school he poured his heart into studying and having a good time but mostly studying. He’s wicked brilliant at charms and transfiguration and is working hard to undo the spell placed on him by the gang. He feels like he’s getting close but along with that comes the temptation to get rid of the other spell as well. they say that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, is he really someone who can avoid the pitfalls of absolute power?

Jafar grew up with a very uncomplicated outlook on life. For generations his family worked for the Sultans and so when he grew up he would as well and that whatever immoral things he would have to do, it was fine, after all it wasn’t anything personal it was just business. He always secretly hoped that one day he might marry into the Sultans themselves, he was devoted and loyal to them and he thought that the loyalty of his family should be rewarded. It became abundantly clear as Jasmine grew up that this wasn’t going to happen and it left him bitter. Marriage for people like them wasn’t about love, it was a contract. Love didn’t really exist anyway so there was no point in being hung up over it.  

He’s highly interested in taking over the Sultan business and is starting to not really care what ends he has to go to to get it. He’s considered murdering the Sultan Patriarch and slipping Jasmine a love potion but the method he feels most satisfying would be to buy the company out and bring Jasmine’s father to his knees. He’s heard of a magical item hidden out in the Nevada dessert in some cave that is worth a lot of money but he knows he can’t get it alone. He isn’t powerful enough at magic and he isn’t skilled enough at theft. There is a person who is stealing money from the casino and Jafar wants to hunt them down and have them do it. Little does he know that the thief is a lot closer to him at Ilvermorny that he thought…
