🎄 but also, for silass and sofia
[ 🎄 for our characters under a mistletoe! ]
Amy had been adamant that Silas go and check out a couple reception halls with Sofia while she was out of town (aka tanning in Bermuda on another spontaneous girls trip), and Silas couldn’t think of a single excuse why spending time alone with their wedding planner would be a Horrifically Bad Idea. And so, dragging himself out of bed on a sacred Sunday morning, Silas dutifully met Sofia at their designated location, the first reception hall of many that they’d be touring that day.
Ever since that fatefully morning after when he’d walked into her office only for Amy to introduce her as their wedding planner, Sofia had managed to be all business albeit brief if not a bit disregarding towards him, which was… totally fair. Completely understandable. What he deserved, really. Amy didn’t much notice the animosity (though she really didn’t notice much at all unless it directly involved her and a sandy beach), but Sofia’s cold-shoulder had been eating away at Silas for the last month.
She did most of the talking to the owner’s of the venues, asking most of the questions and only getting him involved if the round of questioning actually involved him. For as much as it was his wedding, it had never felt like his wedding, and even if Sofia had been rightfully angry at his indiscretion, he was extremely grateful just for her presence in all of this.
The fourth reception hall they went to tour was actually quite gorgeous. Currently decorated to match the holiday season, the high ceilings were met with sparkling, crystal chandeliers that looked like dripping icicles, and the walls lined with fresh garland and fragrant wreaths doted with berries and pinecones. He could hear Sofia and the guide chatting up ahead of him, something about the capacity limit, but Silas was practically blown away by the dancehall where a tall Christmas tree towered in the corner. He was broken from his reverie by the sound of Sofia in the doorway, clearing her throat, and Silas quickly jogged to catch up with the tour, but not before —
“Stop!” shouted a random worker, a short and stout older man dressed as an elf (though Silas actually thought he’d have been better suited for Santa). Silas’s feet skid to a stop beside Sofia, eyes wide, but the old elf just smiled at him and Sofia before pointing to a spot above their heads. “I finally caught one!”
Both Silas and Sofia’s heads fell back as they stared up at the green ivy hanging ominously above them, but Sofia was quick to the punch on this one. “Oh, no, he’s not — we’re not together or —“
But the elf was already jingle jangling away, humming a Christmas tune as he left them standing awkwardly in the doorway.
Silas swallowed a heavy feeling, his eyes turning all the way down from the mistletoe to Sofia where he was met with a soft pink blush dancing over her cheeks and he couldn’t help himself; he’d been unable to resist her from the very start, of course. He stepped into her vision, a hand reaching out to run up the arm of her coat, hesitating briefly before his hand came up to softly cup her cheek. Taking another step closer, Silas bent, never taking his eyes off of her, not until he closed the distance to press a soft kiss to the cheek he wasn’t currently caressing with his thumb.
Perhaps the moment had only lasted a few seconds, but Silas would have given anything for a dozen more. But before he could even wish her a Merry Christmas, she was stepping out and away from him, hair whipping as she turned and walked quickly in the direction of where their guide stood waiting for them in the hall. Hand still hanging in midair where her face had once been, Silas clenched a fist and let out a frustrated sigh before pocketing his hands and following after.
