what i really like about june egbert is that her being a trans girl just fits well with homestuck’s constant theme of “whom the story presents the characters as” vs “who they are” & the characters’ subversion of what we probably expect of them: we might expect john to be that sort of typical protagonist, the-least-specific-character probably-a-straight-boy and then boom! june egbert, a trans girl figuring herself out, finding out who she is & what she wants, and i think that’s beautiful

oh this is gonna be very niche but I’m still gonna say it: while i do understand the urge to say “vriska and catra is the same” (I mean, “morally grey” & “problematic” lesbians with an abusive mother figure and all), i think there’s a certain difference between them that I find very interesting:

both vriska & catra have something very close to an utena & anthy dynamic with terezi and adora respectively, yet vriska is obviously the utena while catra is, as obviously, the anthy, in this essay I will-
