Tuath of Alvez: The Aaxte
Maurice blinked at the figure standing on his doorstep, a towering giant bull standing like a man with brick-red fur and a pair of massive horns that brushed the overhang of the thatched roof. His shirt and pants shone with brilliant whiteness, in spite of what was clearly a days worth of road dust and field mud.
"Can... Can I help you?" Maurice stuttered
"Bai, you can." The figure replied with a relaxed familiarity. "Storm's coming."
"A storm? But the sky is clear?"
"Oh, its clear now, but I can tell." The bull-man, adjusted his sash, shifting a sprig of long grass from one end of his mouth to the other, looking out towards the sea. "I reckon it will be a big one too. Just makin' my rounds of the neighborhood, lettin' folks know to stay indoors until it passes. Easy for even a sure-footed man to get swept off the cliffside paths."
"Well, just stay safe there, neighbor. I've got 7 more farms to visit before the storm shows."
Maurice watched, as the red bull sauntered down the path, vanishing over a small hillock. As he did, the wind began to pick up, dark clouds rumbling into view.
The Tuath Aaxte are a Fair Folk, believed to originally hail from Dindan, the World Beneath, but first appeared in Southern Akitania and the Shatterlands, living in the green mountains and rugged coastlines of Southern Kornogel. They are large, humanoid creatures, possessing a mixture of human and bovine features, with tails, cloven hooves and prominent horns.
Aaxte live in carved out hillsides, working small subsistence farms on and around their dwellings. They commonly integrate with their surrounding neighbors openly, taking it upon themselves to protect communal roads from troublemakers and warn their neighbors of oncoming storms. During the height of these tempests, they are known to patrol the shoreline, looking for ships in distress to assist with lifelines and signal fires.
Since the Misty Times, they have spread across Kornogel and Alkebulan, as far as the Sea of Wine and the Fortunate Isles, driven by adventurous youths during periods of wanderlust.
