I remember when Delta (formerly Northwest, etc.) handed out Oshibori on international flights in COACH!
Originally crafted as a traditional Japanese lacquered oshibori rest for holding the warm hand towel served before a meal.
It also makes a beautiful presentation dish for chocolates, petits fours, amuse-bouches, or other small appetizers.

"A young woman from Lithuania decided to celebrate her birthday in Hurghada, where she staged a full-blown origami oshibori competition (the art of turning terry towels into animal figures).
Her videos from the hotel were picked up by international media, and she suddenly became a celebrity.
Airė told Delfi about her adventure. She went on vacation on February 26th, buying a last-minute deal. She checked into the Long Beach Resort Hurghada.
In the morning, Airė decided to leave a surprise for the hotel employee cleaning her room.
"I made my first origami oshibori, and that's how our competition began. Every morning, I left a new character or animal, and the hotel employee left me their creation. Maybe it worked because I went to art school," Airė said, noting that she had never done anything like this before.
The competition lasted a week – every day was full of anticipation, as Airė and the hotel employee continually surprised each other.
"I filmed the entire process, and I didn't expect such attention – there were about 8.8 million views on Instagram, 422,000 people shared the video, and about a million likes. On TikTok, the video has 5 million views," Airė marveled.

L'oshibori est simplement une serviette humide censée permettre de se nettoyer en l'absence d'eau courante. En général, il est connu pour apporter du confort et est un signe révélateur d'un excellent service.
En termes simples, un oshibori est une petite serviette blanche qui a été trempée dans de l'eau propre (froide ou chaude). L'eau est ensuite essorée, ce qui permet à la serviette de rester humide, mais pas de dégouliner. Elle est ensuite pliée ou roulée avant d'être placée dans des sacs en plastique ou des récipients afin de la garder humide.
Le client peut l'utiliser soit pour se nettoyer les mains, soit pour se réconforter le visage en été (serviettes fraîches) et en hiver (serviettes chaudes).
