Prayer Poem to Odin and the Blessings of Othala

Allfather Odin, wanderer wise, Keeper of runes and truth in disguise, You who gave an eye for sight beyond sight, Guide me now with ancestral light.

From windswept boughs of Yggdrasil's tree, You whispered the runes to set souls free. Othala, carved in sacred stone, Speaks of kin, of hearth, of bone.

Inheritance not just of land, But of spirit shaped by your hand— The songs of my blood, the strength of my line, The sacred roots that intertwine.

Odin, I call you, god of the slain, Whose wisdom flows like a river through pain. Bless me with clarity, honor, and grace, To know my home in time and place.

Let Othala’s fire burn strong in me— A torch of belonging, legacy, and memory. May I protect what I am given to keep, Awaken what lies in the ancestral deep.

With raven’s cry and spear in air, May I walk this path with strength to spare. Odin, may your gaze fall kind and near, And Othala bless all I hold dear.

Tasmanian Tiger is the harbinger of change, the ‘silent one’, the carrier of the deep messages we need to hear.

The Rune symbol for Tasmanian Tiger is ‘Othila’ which strengthens family or group connections. This Rune whispers that this is a time of separating paths. A peeling away is called for, a letting go of the old, a time for retreat. A time for a separation is called for that will free you to become more truly who you are in essence. This is an illusion rune. To receive one only needs to let go and give. Maybe you are being called on to give up your attachments so you can become who you truly are. This is a time for ‘Self’, a time for going within.

So I thought pretty hard what could capture the essence of Othala, i thought about family and tradition. What is a tradition that most have done at some point, that our ancestors over centuries would have also done. Then it came to me telling stories around the fire.
