Evangeline should have felt embarrassed after losing all the air in her lungs when she shared her first kiss with Jacks.
She should have felt petrified that his kiss could cause her entire body to malfunction that easily or the fact that it could have killed her.
She should have been more afraid to actually kiss him but she wasn’t.
She was ecstatic, grateful, and so beyond happy.
She had taken a grand risk by confessing her love to him but the greatest risk of them all was doing something she’s been longing to do.
She kissed him.
She kissed him.
She had wanted to feel his lips pressed against hers for much longer than she’d care to admit but the wait was worth it.
Evangeline always believed in fairytale endings and happily ever afters, she just didn’t think hers would take her on a journey like this.
This all started because of her desperation to put a stop on the wedding her “first love” was going to have and where she sought out to find the Prince of Hearts. She never would have imagined what that would bring her.
A handful of curses, endless amounts of guilt, hopelessness and hopefulness, vampires, and true magic.
New friends, new enemies.
Yet she wouldn’t change it for anything in the world, if anything she’d do it all again.
She’d do it all again if that meant she could stay in his arms, listening to the steady and soft heart beat of her Jacks.
Because he was hers.
And she was his.
There was no better outcome from that kiss than that, it was only the option. She knew in her heart that it was and she was correct.
This proved that their pure and strong love for one another could withhold any and every thing.
Her love confession and that kiss was all Jacks needed. He had such desperation for it but that was something he couldn’t admit.
A bigger part of him was fighting against it because he was scared. That was something he could admit since she already knew about his first fox.
That part of him couldn’t fathom losing another fox, let alone losing her. He couldn’t bring himself to lose himself in her, in his love for her and possibly kill her with just one kiss.
At least that was until she fought for it.
After that first kiss, his love confessions came out like a prayer or maybe more like a promise. It just spilled out of his mouth like magic.
He wasn’t as stubborn now when talking about how he felt, that was one way Evangeline’s kiss changed him.
He thought these new profound feelings would scare him but they didn’t.
Feelings all these things for her came natural, it was as easy as taking a breath of fresh air. As easy as taking a sip of water to quench his thirst.
He should have known he’d fall for the rose haired girl from the start, her prayer to him may have been silly of sorts but it showed the kind of person she was.
And he was so hopelessly in love with her.
I read the books and recently finished ACFTL and my brain started writing for them😭😭
I love them sooooo much and ugh I can’t stop thinking about them:’)
My new Once Upon a Broken Heart fic has officially begun. The first two chapters are posted on AO3!
If you’ve read my fic Between Enemy Lines and liked it, you’ll love this one, too.
Cold wood dug into his knees. The church must’ve truly been frigid if even his skin wasn’t immune to the chill. He had gone blissfully numb to all else, though.
He welcomed in the cold with every breath, freezing the burn in his stomach. The need, the ache. It had crept up on him, stronger than ever, dragging him down with every step he took away from Donatella Dragna.
Sometimes it felt similar enough to the burn of alcohol, he could almost pretend. Not so today. No, he’d swallowed fire. He’d nearly torn into his skin trying to rid himself of the feeling. He’d done quite a number on his jacket.
He let his hands fall away, breathing only the dust of this old, abandoned place.
It was then that he heard the footsteps. His head shot up. He had felt a tingling like he was no longer alone, but the door to his church was hidden.
He spotted his intruder, and all he saw for a moment was pink. Her hair was—pink. Not a bubbly, sweet sort of pink. It had a sharp edge of gold shooting through it, lending her a certain aura of otherness. A storybook character must have gotten loose in his church.
How had she gotten in?

i don't want to be rude and really do hate asking this but i'm really curious-have you postponed the final chapter of soul and love for post-curse or uhhh there is no definite time span for updation?? (i love the fic, and this is NOT trying to pressure you into updating that's horrible i just wanted to know if there's a tentative time frame for updation or if it's not fated to be out-i'm sorry if this hurt i really didn't want to-)
That's all right! You weren't being rude and it didn't hurt my feelings. I'm still planning to update my fic, but when that is, I'm not sure yet. I do have the next chapters already written, but I will try to update more often since I did publish it on there for some time.
