❛    i know   !    ❜      voice rising with humor  ,  teasing  ,  bordering on delight.    she can’t explain it  ,  except that it feels a little like confirmation of being wanted.   maybe  ,  too  ,  that she’d fully expected to be the one standing in his place. audrey and her big  ,  unreasonable feelings always out for the world to see no matter how many keys she locked them with.    of course she was going to be the one to get jealous.   she hadn’t even considered that it may be the other way around until the reality was in front of her.   the next time she speaks it’s softer  ,  though she still feels inclined to laugh.           ❛    you had no reason to be.    you should know you don’t.    ❜

❝  ----  not always easy,  is it?  ❞  even saying that feels like a confession of sorts,  as if he’s admitting to wanting one of his own.  he does,  but he won’t tell himself that,  nor will he tell his friends,  because it doesn’t feel right. there’s so much he’s grateful for,  so much he wouldn’t change for the world,  but then,  there’s the never-ending doom that clutches his heart,  an endless question that asks him,  what if you hadn’t been used for evil?  what if he was never made to be a weapon?  what if his good heart hadn’t been a recipe for the biggest destruction in this town? 

❝  where would you go?  you know,  if you could have a fresh start?  is there a place?  or  ----  or is it more like a moment in time you’d rather go back to,  start over?  ❞   would mason choose the latter?  no,  because that would mean giving up all the good that came out of it.  his pack,  corey.  and where would he even go to begin?   his fate was determined long ago.

❛   i’ve been told , but i’m also pretty sure they’re traditionally not flung at people who clearly aren’t participating.   ❜   words aimed at him though her attention rests solidly on phone screen , the front facing camera.  aside from the quiet ache in her nose , there appears to be a lack of all around damage. any damage , really. she’s lucky she wasn’t ( naively , apparently ) trying to share space with a game of football. phone closed with a click , glossy smile.   ❛   no harm , no foul , no need to make anyone pay for a nose job.   ❜

❛   shame.   it’d take a whole lot to ruin mine  ,  but it would’ve been fun to watch you try.   ❜   tone that sinks into a mocking sort of boredom  ,  light with familiarity he hasn’t earned.  comfort naturally carried over years of walking the earth  ,  all the time in the world isn’t enough that he can spare the moments it takes to build up to friendly teasing when he could skip right over it and jab whether they’re familiar or not. all work  ,  no play  ,  yada yada yada.

❝  no,  all of it is bullshit,  ❞   she’s quick to shoot back,  pitiful laugh following her words.  ❝  this place,  bullshit.  the people here,  bullshit.  the rules,  the jobs,  the fake optimism -----  it’s bullshit.   don’t you want something to change?  ❞   she knows she needs it,  she knows so many others need it too  ----  but that doesn’t mean she knows what to do.  she doesn’t know how to fix it,  all she knows is that they can’t keep silencing themselves just because someone else is ‘ taking care of it. ‘  she tried being silent,  she tried hiding  ----  and it only heightened the fear and paranoia.  she wants to try something new now.

when she slides in beside him, there’s a mischievous glint in her eye that ought to warn him of what’s coming, but christian’s gaze is steadily elsewhere, completely and utterly consumed by the girl on the opposite end of the room in a way endearing enough for tasha to allow him his pining for a few moments without interruption. eventually even she can’t help herself, though, and she gives him a light nudge. “time to spill,” she says warmly, bumping her shoulder with his. “i have been patient, but i can only wait so long.” @lingeringscars​

      a sigh falls from her lips, brows furrowed in concentration as she meticulously inspects the wreckage before her. she had forgotten to put the dowels in the cake — logistics aren’t really her thing — and the entire thing had come crumbling to a halt as she placed the final fondant frog atop a candy mushroom. there has to be a way to fix this, surely, but right now she’s at a loss. 

     “ it’s an abstract cake, ” she finally replies, a lightbulb going off in her head. how brilliant. “ it’s not so much a cake anymore, but like, the idea of a cake.  ”  it doesn’t make much sense, but it does make sense to her and that’s all that really matters, isn’t it ?

     she takes another glance at the mess before her, before reaching in, hand first, and taking a fistful of cake, crumbling the chunk into rubble of what it once was. “ are you gonna help ?  ”
