INDIA: INTERIOR DESIGN: PALLAVI SEN

Home Beautiful is the thesis project of Indian-American, Mumbai-based artist Pallavi Sen. She screen-printed the wallpaper, painted the furniture, patterned the cushions and rounded up all the wondrous decor. The saturation of color, form and print is explained by Sen, “I try to overwhelm the viewer with extravagance and an excess of color, shimmer and pattern, so they remain suspended in that sensation. Because the intent or concept behind my work rarely goes beyond surface beauty, I try and create an experience that dazzles and distracts over and over, making any further contemplation quite unnecessary. I want the viewer to keep looking, keep looking…I love the moment that lies between the first glance at an object of beauty and the desire to understand what one is looking at.“
