the northland bank  ―  albeit not always orthodox in its practices  ―  still offers loans as one of its services to its patrons. however, being under the fatui’s gaze, means they do not always play nice when its benefactors do not pay up. you won’t get a stern letter, oh no. pantalone utilises fatui pyro agents to collect debts in whatever means he sees fit. mora, possessions, visions, eyes, fingers, limbs ; the man is relentless and does not take lightly to being stolen from.

✧ ―   𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍.     manners.

pan is exceptionally well-spoken, and disarmingly polite. his agreeable nature may even have the regrator’s strongest adversaries second-guess his violent nature; it seldom slips through the cracks but is always simmering just beneath the surface.

✧   ―    𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍. mysophobia

although slight, pan suffers from mysophobia ( fear of filth / dirt ). you could not torture this information out of him, but growing up into poverty meant that his living conditions were far from sanitary. nowadays it manifests in an unwillingness to touch anything with his bare hands ― thus he will always wear his gloves. a fellow fatui member may see him discretely brushing off anything he is about to touch, or the habitual checking for imperfections on any food he is about to consume. moreover, his appearance and clothing is always pristine.

✧   ―    𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍. poverty

it's true that pan's impoverished childhood in liyue was destitute, however this was compounded by his mother's addiction to gambling. in the rare event they achieved some sense of financial stability, it was frequently squandered in an attempt to make more money, and thus the cycle continued. with every penny to their name being served up to lady luck ( and then ultimately devoured by her ) little pan came to resent money more than anything.

if money could be gained and lost to something as frivolous as luck then he had no desire to play games anymore. what better way to even his odds than to control the economy entirely? and thus his motivation was born; seize complete control of teyvat's economy, crush it in its entirety, and want for nothing ever again.

on the slow and quiet evenings, it is not unusual to catch the banker smoking while he works on the accounts for the fatui. he uses a characteristically long pipe, but saves his habit for for the privacy of his own company.
