I take a picture during each chemo session and today’s was particularly silly. I had my tenth session today and brought a plush broccoli, and my favorite broccoli boy Deku, to celebrate. When I’m done with all 12 sessions I can make a super weird calendar, I guess
P.S. It’s pancreatic cancer awareness month. This disease doesn’t get a ton of attention until it’s typically widespread in someone’s system, and/or a celebrity has it. It also has one of the lowest survival rates of any major cancer. If you’re having unusual gastrointestinal symptoms, weight loss, jaundice, changes in your stool, abdominal pain, or were recently diagnosed with diabetes- please get scans! Demand them from your doctor! I’m so lucky my tumor was caught (seemingly) relatively early, lord knows what situation I’d be in if it went unchecked for a few more years.
P.P.S.- Ask me anything about my cancer, treatment, situation, etc. Preferably right to my inbox so I can make a proper post responses- but anything works! I love shedding light on this disease, the experience of being a young person with a rare disease, and having an open dialogue to break some of the awkwardness/stigma around it.
