MUSIC MONDAY PLAYLIST: Avery’s Picks

I'm the type of person who is usually shrouded in nostalgia. Lately, I've been going through my lengthy music library and found a bunch of playlists from my old radio show. It wasn't the kind of show you might expect...it was probably much worse. Giving college kids this kind of free rein can usually lead to some weird results; for instance, my cohost and I went by DJs Chad and Chet for our alter-egos. That sentence is proof enough that a middle school awkward phase can last well into your twenties. Our show, aptly called Dazed & Confused, had a new theme every week that was more abstract in its concept than focused on the music itself. This is a throwback to one of my favorites, which we titled "My Life is a Cliche Teen Indie Movie and I'm Whichever Character Michael Cera Always Plays" (sounds like an old school Fall Out Boy song title, doesn't it?). Though the original playlist had over two hours of music, this mix has some of Chad and Chet’s favorite tracks so you, too, can live in a moody music video.

AUGUST LISTENS 
I didn’t listen to a lot of albums or even really popular songs at all this month. I was mostly on SoundCloud finding weird remixes lmao

• “Take Me” (Single) by Aly& AJ - My girls are back baby!!!!!!! Lmfao this is a really good song it’s very indie and different from their previous notable pop sound. I like it tho bc they’re both grown now and I think it shows that they’ve grown and I look forward to whatever more they have to release!! 
• “Grow Fonder” (Single) by Pogo - I love this band they just do really cool remixes of all kinds of songs. This one is from a song from the Disney movie Robin Hood and it’s soooo fucking cute 
• “Rainbow” by Kesha - She is HERE and I am DEAD!!! I love my mom I love my mom I love my mom!! I already raved about her 3 singles but Miss Kesha Rose is not here to fuck around. I look forward to her growth and I hope she continues to be an inspiration to women and survivors all over the word. Favorite tracks are Praying, Woman, and Hunt You Down. 
• “Put Your Head on My Shoulder by Paul Anna (Remix)” by Floreyyyy - Yes this is that guy whose video of this went all kinds of viral lol I loved it and I found his SoundCloud and he has some really good shit but this one stays my favorite I can’t stop listening to it lol 
• “woof.” by Panthurr - Another SoundCloud find lol this samples Charlie Brown and again it’s really cute and just absolutely cool to listen to. I love how creative these people are and the merging of different kids of media, I just think it’s very cool 
• Re-Appearing: “Woodstock" by Portugal. The Man - Honestly its mostly just been Feel It Still that I’ve been listening to. It’s on the radio so much and it’s so much of a bop that my dad likes it lmao
