At the Party || Open

Time this year was kind of funny. It felt as if it was going too damn slow but fast at the same time. When Matt and Blaine decided on the wedding date it felt insane because it’s at the end of the year! And their engagement party fell about six months out from it. But after he realized just how much is involved with wedding planning it made sense why they needed that extra time. At least for now he and B could enjoy all of the fun which comes from the lead up to the big day. Matt got a drink from the bar and made his way outside. There was music and people talking. The whole scene laid back, which was the main thing they wanted out of today. Matt still felt a little worn from the pride events yesterday but the man felty buzzy and happy about today. “Hey!” he called out and went up to someone. “Glad you could make it. There are drinks inside and the truck is on it’s way so you better be hungry.” He joked with them.

OPEN ☕ You Should See Me In A Crown(bucks)

“Iced peppermint mocha, please. Venti,” Hilde placed her order, eager to get some caffeine in her system after a long day of intense shopping. When she had gave the barrista her name, he had spelled it ‘Hilda’, which she was used to. People who had only ever saw her name written down assumed it was pronounced Hil-dee or Hild, and people who had only ever heard it said aloud thought it was spelled ‘Hilda’. It didn’t bother her, though, because first names weren’t that important. Last names, though, were very important. And her uncle, King of the Southern Isles, shared her last name. Because of this, Hilde took some comfort in the fact that although she wasn’t a legitamite royal due to her father’s past sins, she was still related to royalty.

She pondered this, tapping her perfectly manicured nails on the counter while the barrista prepared her order. The only thing to break her out of her trance was hearing a familiar voice come from the spot beside her in the queue. “Oh, hey!” she said with a warm smile. “Fancy meeting you here.”

At the Bar || Open

Ryder didn’t think he’d make it to the Founders ball this year, with work getting crazy and his free time limited. He hadn’t even seen much of Marls since they got back from California. He thought about sending a text before he left but Chloe dragged him out to get dressed for the party, because she wanted him to really get into the 1920s theme, and before he knew he he was standing in front of the bar and reading interesting names for drinks. “Giggle water?” he said out loud. “Why would anyone want to order something called Panther Piss? That just sounds gro-” he was motioned over and Ryder had to laugh. “Sorry. Guess it’s all part of the them. The drink names. I’ll go with the Sidecar.” He didn’t know what was in it but the picture looked good. Ryder put some cash in the tip jar and stepped to the side while the bartender fixed his drink. He thanked him, finding the whole theme of the party interesting, definitely reminding him of The Great Gatsby. 

He sipped the orange drink, which was strong and cold, which was good considering how hot it’s been. And kept close to the bar, thinking he’d might run into someone he knows there. Hopefully it won’t be too long. Because he could see himself getting zozzled pretty easily if he kept with these Sidecars.

LILY | OPEN

It was time that Lily treated herself. She’d been saving up her money almost religiously for a new computer that she desperately needed, but with all of the stress from school and her job - as much as she adored it - she needed to do something for herself that wasn’t academically related. What better way to treat yourself with a delicious, over priced coffee that could have easily been recreated at home? Honestly, nothing. So with some crumbled bills in her hand, she stood in line at the cafe, waiting for the dreadfully slow line to move. It wasn’t the establishment’s fault, not really, and Lily knew this. 

Finally, she’d gotten her drink and as she turned to leave ran smack dab into someone, spilling her drink all over the floor and the both of them.

“Oh, no! I’m so sorry!” she hurried, barely glancing up at who it was while she grabbed napkins and tried to clean the both of them.

Leaps of Faith | Open

Clay rubbed a hand across his face as he checked the charts in front of him once more. He knew the procedure they were scheduled for backwards, had spent half of the week in the skills lab practising and making sure he was completely and one hundred percent prepared for what they had to do. However, the little voice in the back of his mind was continuing to remind him that this was a risky, experimental procedure and that he wasn’t the surgeon who should be performing it. That last part he knew wasn’t technically true, and that it was only because the voice in his head sounded suspiciously like his father that it was telling him that. But that didn’t make it any easier, and it was still forcing his heart rate up when he really needed to be calm. “Are you ready for this, it’s a big surgery.” He tried to smile, but his nerves were stretched too far to really pull it together. “I’m relying on you big time here, and I trust you to have my back in there okay, this is the biggest surgery yet in my trial and we’re going to change Cory’s life with this.” Looking back at the chart once more, he exhaled heavily. This was it.

Mrs. Petrovic was a sweet woman. Her head barely reached his sternum and her vision was holding on by a thread. She often times mistook, Nina, the striking Ocelot, to be some very odd mutt of a dog–– though she still loved on her, shaky hands and all despite the inherent confusion. The woman almost always reeked of menthol cough drops (not prescribed by Mateo) and today was no different. Her smile was as bright as ever as Mateo paid attention to her like she was the only girl in the world. 

Mateo had no cure for the laundry list of aliments the woman had and after showing her the array of of tinctures located on the shelves in his small store front, he sent her home with a mix of herbs and dried petals that would make nothing more than a good cup of nighttime tea for the women to enjoy with her shows. Mateo ushered her to the door. “Alright, Mrs. Petrovic tell me how that helps you sleep, I’ll see you tomorrow,” he told the women as she hobbled her way out with her own warm departing words. Like clockwork she’d be back again at 11 for her daily “check up” as she liked to call it. 

Mateo softly closed the door behind her and turned his attention to the person who had slipped in some time while he was helping Mrs. Petrovic. 

“Just browsing?” Mateo asked as he went to his books and scribbled down what he’d given the women still giving the person space as they looked around. He had his fair share of window shoppers though with it being cold and flu season more and more people were turning to him when their flu shots failed. His prices also were quite competitive when it came to ingredients for potions though the witch no longer partook in those kinds of creations his services and products were still available to both the ordinary and extraordinary.
