miss carmichael, i don't think flashing your boss is part of your job description
drawing chibis or whatever. i'm so sleepy
hello i would like to know some of your worldbuilding re: paradise state! sounds like it's a bit about wealth divide, so what kind of accesibility/convenience differences are there? Like, are bycicle helmets different for each animal? are there standard ones for cheap and custom unicorn helmets for a ton of money? or conversely is that a sort of handwaved away and you're more focused on the characters and their dynamics with each other instead?
Paradise State is a story more focused on characters and dynamics, so a lot of the heavy furry worldbuilding stuff gets handwaved away so as not to distract from the main story. characters are generally designed to be as humanoid as possible (aside from their heads, tails and fur), so some of the more complicated animal traits are simplified (i.e. digitigrade paws, talons, hooves, etc. being translated into a plantigrade format that still resembles the original form but also can fit in normal shoes) for ease of drawing.
that said! although i was originally gonna just dismiss this ask since there aren't really any instances in which the story itself would address furgonomics like this, i remembered one of the characters (Stephanie) actually rides a motorcycle? so i thought this might be a fun thought exercise to try designing standard issue headgear for furries :P
the average motorist helmet has a longer visor to account for varied snout lengths, as well as an ear shaped pocket for higher ears (covered with a lightweight mesh so you can still hear), and removable sections on the top for people with larger horns or antlers to fit up top. horn protection not included; those are sold separately.
other headgear has been altered somewhat to accommodate for ears and snouts as well. respirators and face masks shape more like muzzles with an adjustable strap wrapped around the back of the head. glasses generally don't have temple pieces as people's ears are often too high up to be worn comfortably, so instead they just have very secure nasal bridges. goggles and any other eye covers wrap around the head and go under the ear.
ofc none of this is actually mentioned in the story, these are simply my personal style guides for drawing certain headgear :D
ok one of my moots said I should post about my ocs and I’ve been meaning to work on paradise state some more lately…
Paradise State is my little furry soap opera comic idea about the dramatic lives of wealthy socialites, ruthless business tycoons, struggling artists, working class wonders, and all chaos that comes in between when these worlds clash.
there’s a lot of characters I’ve been developing but I’m not sure who I should ramble about first SO! I’ve decided to make a lore prompt post I guess :P
back at my old temp job, I used to draw my ocs’ designs on sticky notes as decorations for my cubicle wall… so here’s a layout of a bunch of the main characters from paradise state!
send me a letter in an ask and I’ll lore dump about the character from the corresponding letter… if you send a more specific question along with it I’ll answer that abt the character as well! :3c
💫💞 the way she walks! 💞💫
some sketches from this week's streams, trying to figure out color schemes for some minor paradise state characters

hm…
good day! ✨
could you tell me about this “Paradise State”? :D
(if it’s too much feel free to make it reallll short)
Paradise State (work in progress) is my furry soap opera comic project I've been working on since late 2022 (around the same time my soap opera obsession started 😅). Originally it served as a personal dumping ground for various characters and stories that I had previously created and abandoned over the years, but over time has evolved into a sort of serial drama sandbox for me to play around in.
The story itself primarily takes place in Felicity, a fictional 50th state on the east coast of the USA (Hawaii is a separate country in this universe don't worry about it 😁). Within Felicity is Calico City, the major metropolitan area that most of the cast come from, with a thriving nightlife scene and plenty of economic enterprises ruling the the city.
Being a soap opera with an ensemble cast, Paradise State doesn't have a singular main protagonist: characters come in and out of focus based on the importance of whatever storyline they're actively involved in. For example:
One the first story arcs of Paradise State centers around Emmeline Fairchild, a struggling actress returning to the east coast in search of work, trying desperately to move on from her troubled past in Hollywood. She reunites with old friends and family in Calico City, hoping to make a fresh start after all the time she's spent away from home. But in spite of her best efforts, her past seems intent on catching up with her...
Another story arc focuses on Ruthie Campbell, a humble farmhand toiling away on her family's ranch just west of Clover Hills. She doesn't want much from life; just to work hard and maintain her maternal grandfather's legacy. However, an unexpected visit from her long lost father threatens the peaceful life she's worked so hard to build...
And yet another story arc centers Sylvia Carmichael, a rich spoiled brat used to getting everything she wants (with the help of her father's money). Her father threatens to withhold her trust fund unless she shapes up and proves herself a worthy heiress, so she decides to worm her way into another rich man's heart. Little does she know, her newest sugar daddy has some long forgotten ties to her real daddy, and her gold digging schemes fan the flames of a decades old revenge plot...
These are just a tiny fraction of the plots and characters of Paradise State for now. It's a little harder to talk about Paradise State as a whole unit since the stories are meant to be more character driven, but that's just a little peek into my sandbox for now! :3
