DORI PLS THE TYPO TOOK ME OUT QUICKLY SAY SMT SWEET ABOUT H AND HOW THEY'D TREAT THEIR OWN CHILDREN OR POOR CHILDREN OR SMT WE MUST SAVE THEIR REPUTATION AHHHHHH
ITS NOT A TYPO ITS SAID LIKE THAT IT CAN JUST ALSO MEAN OTHER THINGS!
H gives to charity! ITS IN THE GAME, ORPHANS ARE MENTIONED
But honestly?
I don't think H is particularly good with children lol. They haven't had to spend time with many, have little to base good parental guidance on. Genuinely, victorians treated children like little adults with less pain tolerance (they believed this!) and also that they wouldn't remember anything so it obviously can't affect them negatively anyway... true story.
Now, I think, or I would hope, H would be better than a sort of parental figure that's like:
🧍♀️🧍♂️
Just standing by the sidelines.
But I don't know. My brain isn't quite at that stage yet.
Im just trying to get y'all to the ball at this point.
I think... H would be patient? And calm. As a parent. And not harsh, nor cruel. They would want them to be educated well, no matter the Child's gender.
I can see them reading to them.
The child pointing to parts of a map, and H explaining what they are looking at, what is there, if they would like to see it.
Teaching them Latin, or French. Having such conversations over tea in a garden with cakes and biscuits.
Horse riding. A pony could be easily bought or bred.
Encouraging their interests, sharing their own.
Obviously their child would have to be knowledgeable about tea, and arithmatic, and history, even if it is not their favourite things.
I think they would be protective.
Wouldn't allow others to speak ill of them.
But would be able to be quite direct in their dismay themselves.
I think, though, they would learn what their child would need. To feel well, and happy, and flourishing.
And they would be a better parent than their father had ever been.
