This crown was made for Helene Stanley to wear as the live-action reference for Princess Aurora for Walt Disney’s 1959 film 𝑺𝒍𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒚. Helene was hired in 1954, and Alice Estes was asked to create her Briar Rose gown, thus Alice is the most likely candidate for who designed the crown.   The piece went on to be used on one of the Mousketeers – Annette Funicello as Ozma – in the 1957 Fourth Anniversary Show, where they sang 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒃𝒐𝒘 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑶𝒛, part of a never-realized project for 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝑮𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑶𝒛.   If you know more about this piece, please leave us a comment! Looking back at the entire Oz franchise, I notice Scarecrow is paired off with a lot of love interests. In the original books, he was with Patchwork Girl. The filmmakers of the Wizard of Oz wanted to pair him up with Dorothy, which is why she tells him, "I'll miss you most of all." And in Wicked, he has Glinda wanting to marry him and he ends up with Elphaba at the end. Scarecrow's got a lot of girlfriends in this franchise. So I made a comic about Elphaba confronting all of them and apologizing in her own way. It was kind of painful to draw Elphaba as a jealous girlfriend.
