#Melanin out here glowing in my favourite black denim vest for #BlackoutDay. Did you hear? We have reached our #PeakBlackness thus far. It’s a terrifying and beautiful time to be alive. We have representation in characters, pop culture, and literature. I see people like myself on screen, I see strength without necessarily being the #angryblackwoman, people able to take up space in a magnitude unlike ever before — we’re looking our most royal, winning awards, shedding tears and cheering each other on. We are our fiercest yet our most exposed. Our most vulnerable. There are people out there who think so little of us when we have come so far. It’s even more crucial right now that we look after each other and support every human in our community. We are all fighting the fight and creating to cope. Don’t forget to check in on each other and keep an eye out for the signs that someone is hurting. We must thrive and follow through with our goals together. • { Image Description: Your favourite glowing #nonbinary green friend with green af eyebrows+afro only wearing geometric gold hoops and their favourite faded black vest with Bliss embroidered in a gold script. The vest features their mother’s pin of the fabulous Prince (🙌🏾✨), pins that say “nonbinary”, “please use they/them pronouns”, an askew “queer” label, a bunny wearing round sunglasses, a white kitty hanging off the pocket, a tiny tombstone that says “I’m fine”, and black muthafuckin power fist pin ✊🏾✨ With their #melaninpoppin, they are standing in front of a growing palm, its leaves casting shadows over their being as they face toward the camera waiting for what is coming next. }
