Spanish Pesetas

So I didn’t realize the Spanish Pesetas was actually active currency of Spain from  1868 to 2002(I was too young to be aware of global currency at the time), but Spain never set a deadline( or didn’t until just recently maybe 2021) to switch over to the Euro and as the RE4 and RE4R games are both set in 2004 it actually makes sense that such a remote isolated village would still use it and still be able to buy things from other towns (In 2002, with rounding 167 pesetas =1 euro. so not the greatest but not the worst) as switching over to a whole new currency isn’t a over night thing.  This also explains how the merchant is able to buy weapons to stock his store ( presumably from outside the village ) while still charging in Pesetas. So if the shotgun is sold for 20000 pesetas that is €119.76 or $132.39 in 2004.
