Helium, Homeshake (2019)
Peter Sagar’s Homeshake project is one of those artists where you pretty much know exactly what to expect on every new release. Once you’ve come to terms with the fact that laid-back, simplistic, very chilled R’n’B is the dish of the day (and every day, at that), one can either sit back and enjoy it for being simple, enjoyable background music or choose to criticise something that doesn’t claim to bring any more to the table than it says on the tin. Put shortly, if you enjoyed Fresh Air and Midnight Snack, then you’ll find nothing wrong with Helium. Sure, there are few hooks here like ‘Every Single Thing’, ‘So She’ and ‘Faded’, but you’ll get out of this what you expect; and to some extent what more could one want?
