Trauma and chronic threat make prediction feel safer than perception. If your childhood environment was unstable, harsh, or unpredictable, which is true for majority of us, prediction becomes hyper-precision, vigilance becomes the baseline, and immediacy feels like blindness. “Now” is not neutral. For the traumatized, “now” is the place where danger struck. The body’s logic is, “If I stop scanning ahead, I die.” This isn’t philosophy. It’s statistics built from experience.
