#11: Modern Family
Number 11 on my list is one of the funniest shows on television right now and in my estimation, one of the best of all time: Modern Family Shot in a mockumentary style, the characters talk directly to the camera. It follows one family, three different storylines that coincide into one. The first is of older businessman Jay Pritchard (Ed O'Neill) and his sexy Columbian wife Gloria Delgado (Sofia Vergara), and her son Manny (Rico Rodriguez). Then you have Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen), Jay's daughter whose has her own family. Her husband, Phil (Ty Burrell), a realtor, and her three children, ditsy yet endearing, Hailey (Sarah Hyland), bookworm middle child, Alex (Ariel Winter) and not so bright, yet sometimes insightful Luke (Nolan Gould). Finally, you have Jay's son Mitchell aka Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), who is gay and has a great boyfriend named Cam (Eric Stonestreet), and they decide to adopt a little girl from China named Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons). The writers of this show are fantastic, clever and heartwarming. The show premiered on September 23, 2009 and is going into its sixth season which premieres on September 24, 2014.
