Reputed Philly mob capo George Borgesi was only months away from getting out of prison after serving twelve years on a racketeering conviction, and yet last month was indicted for allegedly overseeing from prison a loan sharking operation on the streets of Delaware County.
Yesterday in court Borgesi pleaded not guilty to the new charges which could keep him behind bars for years to come, and then in his green prison jump suit was led back to the federal detention center to await trial as reported by George Anastasia for the Inquirer.
Borgesi is among thirteen defendants variously charged in last month's indictment, and others include reputed boss Joseph Ligambi and underboss Anthony Staino Jr. for their alleged roles in a video poker racket.
