Pinglist manager update #1
As people start to use the manager the amount of pinglists that a person owns grows. While not currently at that point yet, people have already voiced their concerns of organizing. For example the people who manage hatcheries or do a lot of art. In this update I am addressing this potential problem by introducing pinglist categories!
The idea is to create a simple, friction free and intuitive way to handle having lists in different categories but also ones that do not belong to any category. Discussing this with some users back and forth I came up with the following visualization:
Lists that do not have a category will be above the line on their own, while below the line a treeview of categories is visible that can individually be opened and closed to hide their contents. Empty categories will have the italic (Empty Category) text appended to their name to make it clear there are no lists that are part of that category. The image above is part of the “View Pinglist” page, when you are logged in.
To make things as friction-less as possible you can even create a new category on the fly from a pinglist’s manage page as shown in the gif below:
The next update will be about showing pinglists on a user’s profile, but that requires some additional changes related to the account privacy settings.
Originally I was planning on pushing both of these features live at the same time but since the categories work completely stand alone I figured I might as well push this live now for people to use : )
