This is the third Saturday of my three month residency at Pivô in São Paulo, Brazil. I'm here to research and create in one of the open studios at the Copan building. Whilst here I'm not necessarily trying to make finished objects but instead accumulate a visual record of the city and my experience here. I've been looking, thinking + creating quite a bit since I arrived and I feel I'm hitting a bit of a stride at the moment. I'm trying to remain open to all possibilities in translating or recording an experience/visual frequency from the city. I'm happy this can happen in a very direct or totally ephemeral way and I'm happy for things to work or not work at all - looking for moments when process breaks down and forms some kind of narrative and visa-versa. This is my first residency and it's really taken me out of myself and displaced a lot of doubt, enabling something that feels like a very accessible creativity. #pivô #residency #gasworks (at Edifício Copan)

I've recently seen some nice experimental photography by people like Gasper Gasparian, Grete Stern, Guatavo Pérez Monzón which got me #tbt my cyanotype wall prints direct on my studio wall at Gasworks, London. Here at my studio in São Paulo I'm already painting directly onto the walls - if I can get hold of some cyanotype chemicals I'll look to doing some direct cyanotype wall prints towards the end of my residency. The wall prints above ☝🏻 were printed with a large photographic negative of a digitally collaged image of a plant in my studio.
