Well at least if I plan my rpg horror now I can get a leg up on the next pixel horror jam 💪🏻

I gotta pry my idea down at least. I've had it since 2016's pixel horror first started, but I was prevented from that due to a jumble of ideas and not knowing how to get it off the ground among other things. I think the newly added picture system in 2003 can be a boon if I figure out how to use character sprites in it. That way, I can make BIG scary monsters chase you instead of just little ones (probably won't have more than one chase scene if any tbh).

Welcome to Lights Out, an rpg maker game made in RPG Maker MV by Mikomi Kisomi, Lights Out has minor horror elements including lack of lighting and a headless fairy that appears in the game, no decapitations of heads were caused for the body to become headless by the way.

"Play as Rebecca, a young girl trying to find her friends after the power goes out while avoiding a Dullahan in your house on "official business". However, as you explore the house with only a back-up generator working, you realize that there is only enough power to light one room at a time! This game has completely custom tilesets and character art as well as 1 ending (and a few changes to the ending if you talk to a certain fairy a lot)."

The game is an entry for both Ludum Dare and the Pixel Horror Jam 2 events on itchio. Being a really small game, it falls into the inevitability of a limited story scope, a lack of room to include storyline as the game was 15 minutes max to complete. Good entry along with no game breaking bugs as far as I can tell, nicely done developer(s)!

Welcome to the demo of Mr. Kohei's Horror Show, a psychological horror adventure game made in RPG Maker MV by @rukomura-games for the 2017 Pixel Horror Jam. The game features Kohei, a man who finds himself in a place "specifically made for him". Despite being in a completely different realm from reality, he seems to know what is going on and what is his objective. Along the way, he will be guided by two headless spouses called Groom and Grump. He also seems to talk to himself, sometimes...

Undoubtedly, when looking at a game before playing it, it is advised to look through the "Read Me" document so you can find all of the sensitive, triggering and/or warnings content that may be harmful to some players. This game in itself contains foul language, self-hate, use of slurs, mentions of suicide, child abuse, body horror and claustrophobic areas (confined/small spaces).

What not to always take on board is the estimated time it takes to complete games, in particular the "30-45" minutes it takes to complete the demo of Mr. Kohei's Horror Show, without me struggling it would take around 50 minutes minimal to complete, plus the struggle on the riddles in one "handy" area of the map which provides no actual clues for the player to know which way to go, they're more story telling dialogue rather than riddles to escape the struggle.

I’m still working on Happy Mountains, but progress is going slow. In the meanwhile, here’s a screen from a side project I’m working on. It’s a short horror game, about 40% complete, inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. Technically, it’s supposed to be an entry for the Pixel Horror Jam, but I don’t know if I’ll get it done in time (I’m also unsure whether I can still enter). Thank you all for still following me, even though I’m very inconsistent with updates. I really appreciate it

A boy wakes up at the edge of a cliff, under a glowing red moon. It feels like he’s forgetting something important.

I finally decided on a title for my pixel horror jam game. In Hazy, you’ll play as a dead kid trying to find out how you died, exploring a town you don’t remember and observing friends you’ve never met, while walking among fellow spirits. Further details are up in the air, but investigation will be a big part of the game play and it will be created in RPG Maker 2003.
